🐸Critters and Companions: Mods that increase the fauna of minecraft such as Ecologics, Naturalist, Ribbits, Enderman Overhaul, More Mob Variants, ect.

🌽Farmers Delight and various included expansions add more food and cooking opportunities!

Lore

The four Spheres, (The Earth, The Nether, The End, and the Underdark), once existed close together in something called the Whirl, which is the gap between dimensions and what keeps them separate.

Travel between these dimensions, while rare, was possible through Portals. These Portals appeared randomly in any Sphere and allowed only a couple people through at a time before disappearing.

One of these Spheres, the Underdark, tried to reach beyond the limits of Portals and into the Whirl. This caused a massive chain of events (the Convergence) leading to the destruction of the Underdark and the isolation of the other three Spheres from the rest of the Whirl.
