Description

Welcome to CottageQuest!

With about 120 mods, CottageQuest focuses on aesthetics, immersion, role play, building, farming, questing, and exploring. The world generation is completely overhauled, and so are a lot of the game mechanics, aiming to bring the world to life by adding more realism yet maintaining an overall fantasy/cottagecore theme.

This modpack is made for 1.16.5 Forge. The main themes of CottageQuest are Fantasy, Cottagecore, and RPG, and the pack is built specifically in mind for those who would rather not fight monsters if they don't have to, and focus more on building, questing, and role play. However, there are still dangers out there, if one so chooses to seek it out.

(Note: CottageQuest requires Optifine, and you'll need at least 8 GB of ram allocated to the game in order to run it smoothly. Personally I allocate 12 GB) :P

(Additional Note: CurseForge doesn't allow for Optifine to be uploaded into this modpack, as well as a couple of resource packs that I like to use. So you will have to add those files manually to your client. Below are the mods/resourcepacks as well as their links to where you can download them. Thanks!)

Optifine (mod)

https://optifine.net/downloads

Terrr's Veggie Villager/Illager/Villager+/Midget Hostile Army (4 resource packs)

https://www.planetminecraft.com/member/terrr_/submissions/?morder=order_latest

(ignore the fact that it says its for an older version, it works perfectly fine on 1.16.5) :P

Conquest of Lootr (resource pack)

 https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/texture-packs/conquest-of-lootr

(again, it doesn't have a 1.16 version, but the 1.18 version works perfectly fine on 1.16.5) :)

Some features include:

  • Completely overhauled world generation, using Hal's Enhanced Biomes (HEB) for vanilla biomes, and Biomes O Plenty for added biomes. HEB greatly enhances all the trees in the vanilla biomes, making them much bigger and way nicer looking, and only use vanilla blocks instead of adding new blocks, so all the leaves and blocks and such work perfectly with resourcepacks! (BoP uses modded blocks, however, the Cocricot texturepack we are using surprisingly changes all the leaf models of the modded leaves to match Cocricot's vanilla leaf models, so none of the leaves look vanilla!) :D
  • Chisel and Bits (needs no introduction) ;)
  • Corpse (no more losing your items due to despawning)
  • CreRaces (similar to Origins, but it's own separate mod/mechanics, it's super cool!)
  • (not implemented yet) Custom music triggers/music (no more vanilla soundtracks, now there's RPG music when you enter areas, fight monsters, etc)
  • Easier Sleeping (a percentage of players sleeping will skip the night)
  • Ensorcellation (custom enchantments)
  • Enchantment Infuser (you can choose which enchantments to put onto your gear, and disenchant them at a price)
  • Economy system (Dot Coin Mod, and Vending Tile)
  • End Remastered (a harder, more immersive way to get to the end, forcing you to explooooore) :D
  • Effortless Building (like WorldEdit but survival friendly and MUCH easier to understand)
  • Fakename (have your in game name show up as the name of your character you are role playing as)
  • Farmer's Delight (as well as a bunch of add-ons)
  • Flan (land claiming with a lot of customizable features)
  • Ice and Fire (don't worry, I edited the config for it so it's MUCH less terrifying! This includes disabling most of the hostile mobs, and disabling the griefing so dragons only hurt entities and don't destroy blocks, etc)
  • Lootr (every player gets their own unique loot out of the same chest so no one is left out)
  • More furniture (Fantasy's Furniture, Iron Age Furniture, and MrCrayfish's Furniture)
  • No Hostiles Around Campfire mod (making your base monsterproof with one easy step)
  • New structures (Valhelsia Structures, Better Villages, and most of the Yungs Better ___ mods)
  • New animals (Creatures and Beasts, and Frikinzi's Fauna)
  • Proximity voice chat (Simple Voice Chat)
  • Quark (tons of quality of life features that should be in the base game)
  • (not implemented yet) Quests and custom NPCs (Flash's NPCs mod does both)
  • SWEM (Star Worm Equestrian Mod, it completely overhauls the model, textures, and AI of horses!)
  • Simple Storage Network (connect all your chests with one terminal where you can search for items)
  • Tree Harvester (chop down the entire tree from one block, and it automatically replants it's sapling)
  • Waystones :)
  • Windowlogging (place glass panes in stairs to create much more unique window shapes)

If you have a lower end PC, you can remove any of the following client-side mods to increase performance:

  • All resourcepacks
  • AmbientSounds 5
  • Auto Third Person
  • Better Third Person
  • Legendary Tooltips (and the Eclectic Trove resourcepack that goes with it)
  • Neko's Enchanted Books

BTW if anyone wants to help me test this modpack, please feel free to comment here or send me a message on discord! I would very much appreciate all the help and feedback I can get so I can continue to improve it! :D

I'm also looking for people to help set up the Music Triggers and custom quests! If you're interested or know someone who might be, please let me know!
Thanks!
