Echowood: A World That Remembers

A story-driven dark fantasy RPG for Minecraft 1.16.5.

You awaken in Echowood, a beautiful world filled with ancient ruins, strange creatures, and forgotten places. But something is wrong.

As you mine and gather resources, corruption begins to take hold. The ground darkens. Trees become infected. Familiar surroundings turn hostile, and what first seemed like a distant problem becomes impossible to ignore.

Explore the world, seek help from its inhabitants, prepare for dangerous encounters, and uncover the story behind the Blight. Your choices will determine how that story ends.

What awaits you in Echowood 1.0:

  • A complete main story with two endings (will likely be expanded in a planned update), told through custom NPCs, dialogue, exploration, and challenging encounters.
  • A spreading corruption system that visibly transforms terrain, ores, and forests (including modded trees) and makes infected ground dangerous.
  • Automatic quest markers that show your destination and distance, update as you progress, and disappear when you arrive.
  • 62 optional quests across seven chapters, from small starter tasks to exploration, crafting, combat, and challenges beyond the main story.
  • A prepared story world with placed NPCs, hidden quest items, dungeons, ruins, varied landscapes, and dangerous bosses.
  • Rebalanced creature spawns and performance improvements, preserving the world’s variety while reducing excessive mob pressure.

Start in the included Echowood world from the Singleplayer menu. The story depends on its placed NPCs and quest locations, which will not be present in a newly generated world.

Pay attention to the corruption warnings and follow the story’s directions when help becomes available. The Blight grows as you disturb the world, and delaying your search for answers has consequences.

Echowood 1.0 is the full release of a project that has been rebuilt, expanded, and brought much closer to its original vision. I hope you enjoy discovering its world as much as I enjoyed bringing it to life.
