In a parallel dimension there is a race of creatures who have exploited their resources to the point of inevitable environmental collapse. Rather than attempting to salvage their own world they have turned their attention to the Overworld as a new land to devour.

They are attempting to open a gateway by corrupting the barrier between the worlds to the point that passage between the two is possible.  The natural ecosystem of the overworld provides some protection - but not enough.

To overcome this threat you must gather together a town of like-minded citizens and guide them in their research to counteract the corruption. Together, you and your colony can push back the corruption... and even take the fight to the source, should you so choose. Take heed, though - you must advance sustainably lest you inadvertently speed the corruption along.

NOTE: This modpack includes gameplay mechanics that create a gradually increasing threat level which includes environmental effects which impact animals, foliage and terrain.
