Welcome to Fabulously Fossils and Archeology!

Step into the boots of a newly appointed paleontologist and resurrection biologist, with big ambitions but very empty pockets. Armed with little more than determination, a quest book, and a questionable amount of upcoming unpaid manual labor, you’ve been tasked with the ultimate challenge: build a thriving prehistoric park from the ground up.

Through a carefully crafted quest system, you’ll be guided through digging up fossils and uncovering ancient DNA, to eventually managing your own park containing the creatures you worked hard to bring back and contain. Each step of the process is rewarded, giving direction and incentivising you to keep pushing to reach the goal of enclosing every available species.

Fabulously Fossils and Archeology is built off of Fabulously Optimized for Minecraft 1.20.1, so you can save your GPU and RAM for the real meat and potatoes. The compiled modlist was thoughtfully put together to complement Fossils and Archeology, rather than clash with it. Alongside buttery smooth gameplay, there are various QoL mods that enhance and mesh nicely with the themes of progression, exploration, and building a spectacular park.

One of the defining features of this pack is its extensive questlines, crafted over a month of time to provide a guided structure for those who may not know where to begin. Whether you're uncovering ancient remains, or designing enclosures for your prehistoric creatures, the quests are there to give you an idea of what your next steps are.

Extras

This modpack is optimized for lower end systems, so you can enjoy a fun modpack without worrying about dropping below 50-60 fps. I average 80-100 fps without VSync using a Ryzen 5 4600H and a GeForce GTX 1650 with 8GB of RAM. My laptop still gets hot enough to sound like an airplane at times, so please remember to allow good airflow to your devices if overheating could be a concern!

Ashen is the resource pack of choice as it spices up the typical vanilla experience while still meshing well with modded content. To amplify a new look, the default shader pack equipped is Complementary Shaders - Reimagined, with Miniature Shader pre-installed for a choice, as the latter of which is a bit less resource intensive. The pack customs.zip has retextures for various mods to fit the Ashen textures, plus a custom panorama and some tweaks to the FTB Quest menu. I encourage you play the pack with Ashen and the pack customs enabled, but it is your choice as it is not a necessary feature.
