Description
Familiar Places is a lightweight horror-focused modpack, designed to bring back the old aesthetics and functionalities of alpha Minecraft, while also expanding on it's liminal and eerie atmosphere with the great horror mod, "wonderland.jar". Explore the lonely world of early Minecraft and the strange liminal feeling that something is terribly wrong beyond the fog, only this time, it's not just your imagination.
This modpack aims to recreate alpha Minecraft as closely as possible.
Changes include:
- Old textures
- Old sound effects.
- Alpha world generation (customizable in world creation)
- Legacy Nether
- Old animations
- Old mob behaviour
- Old mob drops
- No hunger bar (food regenerates hp)
- Old food stacking
- No sprinting
- No sleeping (beds can still be crafted, but their only functionality is the spawnpoint)
- No dual whield/offhand slot
- Most non-alpha structures and mobs removed from naturally spawning
- Old crafting recipes
- Toggleable fog distance (F by default)
- Alpha main menu, with logo animations
- And a lot more
EVERYTHING CAN BE RE-ENABLED THROUGH THE NOSTALGIC TWEAKS CONFIG SETTINGS!

On top of the visual, audio and gameplay tweaks, the horror aspects of this experience are provided by wonderland.jar. Among other things, this mod adds:
- 25 different liminal dimensions, all with their own entrances and escape routes
- 32 unique entities
- Unnatural structures
- Strange noises
- Unnerving messages in chat
- New blocks/mechanics
- Lore pieces to be found

This modpack is playable in multiplayer and is made easier by the mod e4mc, included in the pack.
