Description
Foreword
Faraway Remnants is a hardcore tech-adventure modpack with elements of horror and an immersive feel reminiscent of the Backrooms. It's everything I love.
Description
For many years, I have tried to recreate THAT modpack that would give me THOSE feelings from the old Minecraft. It's not about the old textures, the old world generation, or even the old graphics or lack of variety. (Although that too, but for nostalgia, I am already working on a second project more fitting of the word "OLD").
I wanted the feelings of primal fear, the unknown, and unpredictability. The feeling that only in a well-protected and upgraded base could I feel COZY and COMFORTABLE, nowhere else.
- Mines should be deep and unexplored.
- Mountains should be high and steep.
- Nights should be dark, dangerous, and eerie.
So, I present to you Faraway Remnants!
World Generation
It is unpredictable. In some ways, it even resembles the Farlands, which makes it especially unexpected, non-liminal, and uncomfortable. In this modpack, it is impossible to FIND a cozy place; you can only CREATE one with your own hands. Chunks are generated almost completely randomly. Mountains 300 blocks high next to the deepest ocean? Easy! A desert next to ice peaks, a mushroom biome, and a swamp? No problem. The world is divided into three layers:
- Upper Layer: Floating islands, villages, structures, mountain peaks. It's safe there. Almost.
- Middle Layer: Water, low cliffs, earth, rare structures, trees, if you're lucky. This is where you spawn.
- Lower Layer: Caves, lava-filled chunks, creepy monsters, unkillable beasts, dungeon riches, and the most dangerous places in your world. Visiting them is definitely worth it.
The Nether is also generated randomly. LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE.
Fear of the Unknown
The modpack will easily and effortlessly throw you headfirst into an abyss of unpredictable chaos. It will make you dig into rocks every night out of fear and wander the world every day, trying to find something, anything you can understand, and some place that makes you feel like everything is okay and you are safe. SPOILER: You won’t find it.)))
Mechanization, Automation - Satisfaction
Honestly, I LOVE automating everything. I just can’t live without it! Create, Botania, and AE 2 will help you with this.
Team Play
Going solo is almost impossible here. I added Simple Voice Chat and Simple Voice Radio specifically for those who love surviving with friends. By the way, you will spawn with a 1500-block spread, so you'll have to find each other IF YOU CAN. You'll have the opportunity to build radio stations, send and receive signals from your friends, and get a ton of Role Play Experience. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT, IT'S AN INCREDIBLY COOL EXPERIENCE.
Retro Shaders
The feeling of the Backrooms? Maybe graphics like in Buckshot Roulette? HAHAHA, Easy, buddy! It's already there. I only included shaders that DOWNSCALE the graphics, giving you the feeling of a VHS tape or even an old pixel game with unusual graphics, like in DOOM, for example.
Post-Script
Damn, guys, I'll definitely add more screenshots and photos. Just follow me!))) There are already some in the Screenshots section, but I know it's not enough.
