Description
Franilla+
This smallish modpack was created to play with a small group of friends and introduce some of them to modded minecraft, while allowing them to still fully enjoy vanilla if they want to.
The modpack is, as of now, a simple collection of mod with most configs still set to their defaults. Some recipes are being tweaked to allow a more cohesive experience, an example of this is being able to create vanilla chests with Biomes O' Plenty wood type while having Quark mod (that mod removes the option to create vanilla chests with wood directly because it adds a new type of chest for each type of wood, but this breaks the ability to create chests with modded wood types)
It's a work in progress and lots can change between each version, please check the changelog!
Mods
Exploration
This category is really important for a Vanilla+ modpack since it allows new players to experience something new even if they don't care about learning any mod
- YUNG's better * insert vanilla structure here *: changes vanilla structure generation to make them bigger and cooler
- Alex's mobs: adds a lot of new mobs, both peaceful and aggressive to discover while exploring the world
- The twilight forest: adds a whole new dimension to explore with new structures and boss to fight!
Magic
I'm not a big fan of magic mods, but they look cool, especially for vanilla players, and are often easier to follow and understand, so they are a good fit for a vanilla+ style modpack. A good plus is that they typically have good in-game guides, so there is less need to go leave the game and search for stuff to understand how it works.
The main ones are:
- Botania: a mod that revolves around magic flowers that allow you to become powerful or help you automate the boring stuff.
- Ars Noveau: a mod that resolves around you being a mage and being able to cast powerful spells that can help you travel around the world or defend yourself.
Storage
This category contains the mods that help you organize your chests and keep things tidy.
- Iron chests: mod that adds bigger chests, if you are into that sort of thing
- Function storage: mod that adds drawers that allow to store up to 4 items but multiple stack of each, all drawers can be connected to each other using a controller to allow you to empty the inventory faster (this is the early-game storage option)
- Refined storage: mod that allows you to “digitize” all your items by storing them in a PC and access everything from there, this goes against the vanilla style, but it's really convenient (mid to late-game storage option)
Tech
I really enjoy tech mods, but this category was limited to allow new modded players not to be too overwhelmed and to keep a somewhat cohesive style with vanilla minecraft.
Immersive engineering is the main (and basically only) tech mod that follow the requirements: the style of the mod is amazing and doesn't clash too much with vanilla minecraft, while proving some additions that don't break the game too much.
Optimization
There are a lot of mods that optimize minecraft in this modpack so that it can run while 4GB of RAM while having 100+ mods
There are a bunch of other mods, you can check them out in the Relations tab of this page!
