About
Description
The pack is designed to explore space using Advanced Rocketry with a group of friends.
The approach/House rules
These are some optional guidelines that you can choose to follow if you'd like. FrostedSpace was built with a heavy focus on industry and I predict a typical base setup to be a large central hub/base for processing and storage along with multiple satellite bases for resource production. Thus the following guidelines:
- No teleportation of players or items, unless from a different dimension
- Use realistic methods of item transportation. (Pipe or transport items to central hub instead of having RefinedStorage wires extend all the way to your satellite bases)
- Automate as much as you can. This will make digging deep into a single mod easier if you have a reliable flow of resources and can setup autocrafting for the basic components of the mod.
- Work together. If you do something in a mod, show your friends how it works so they can give input or add on to it themselves.
My hope with these guidelines is to eliminate simple/overpowered solutions thus forcing players to come up with more complex/creative ways to solve problems such as transportation and satellite base management.
Here are some of the main mods that create most of the core gameplay.
Exploration
Mods such as Millenaire, Biome bundle, and Forestry make exploring the overworld more rewarding. Millenaire's villages can be affected by the actions of the player. You can trade, help defend from hostile raids, and even learn their language.
Industry
Going to space will require lots of resources, so Industrial Craft 2, Thermal Expansion (full CoFH suite), Steve's Carts Reborn, and PneumaticCraft are here to help with your resource production and automation.
Storage
All these resources would be horrendous to store in vanilla chests. Mods such as IronChests, IronBackpacks, StorageDrawers can help in the early game, with Refined Storage being used for mid to late game.
Space
The beauty of space can be explored through Advanced Rocketry which enables you to travel to the moon and beyond by building rockets, space stations, satellites and the complex systems to sustain life on other planets. Or you can take a mystical approach and harness the power from moons and stars to create magical items in Astral Sorcery.
PvP/PvE
With all of the advanced technology it would be easy to defeat vanilla mobs, therefore Epic Siege has been added which will make mobs significantly harder (configurable) and make base defense along with personal equipment higher in demand. OpenModularTurrets, ICBM missiles, along with Tinker's Construct, Construct Armor and Modular Powersuits add several methods to defend yourself or go on the offensive.
Decoration
For those who like to keep things looking nice, Chisel and Decocraft 2 add a large variety of easily obtainable blocks to decorate and polish your builds.
Immersion
Numerous improvements that make the world alive such as Streams which makes your rivers flow, Dynamic Surroundings and Sound Filters which make your footsteps in vast caves echo off the walls, and Stellar Sky that showcases the beautiful stars and lights of the night sky.
Utilities/nice to haves
These mods are basically quality of life improvements. BetterFPS to generally improve performance, Fast Leaf Decay (obvious), Journey Map to show you where you've traveled, inventory and mouse tweaks to make inventory management quicker, gravestones for easier item recovery after death.
Misc
Inventory pets adds little pets that give you buffs if you have them in your inventory, and Deconstruction Table allows you to decraft an item and get the resources back.
