In case you find yourself on a service dedicated to mods but somehow aren't familiar with mods, they add a lot of cool new things to minecraft to make it more fun. The primary mods here, as stated above, are mekanism (which adds machines like auto smelters and jetpacks), biomes o'plenty (which adds a ton of new biomes), and brutal bosses (beefed up normal mobs) to provide something extra to test yourself against. There's also some awesome dungeons that will generate beginning with structures above ground so they're easy to find, and a bunch of quality-of-life mods like gravestone (so your stuff doesn't despawn when you die, and you can find it easily), and the ability to mine ores and trees by breaking one block!
