About

Description

Hearth & Hex: Seasons of Everyday Magic

You are a mage in training, growing stronger every day. And every evening you come home to your cozy cottage, where the very same magic brings in the harvest, lights your lamps and chops the firewood.

Hearth & Hex is a Forge 1.20.1 modpack for players who want both: a real magic journey and a homestead to come home to. Neither half blocks the other: adventurers never have to farm to get ahead on the road, homesteaders never have to fight to grow their home, and the pack shines when you do a bit of both.

What you'll find

  • Eight paths of magic: Ars Nouveau, Botania, Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks, Nature's Aura, Hexalia, Eidolon, Occultism and Blood Magic, plus the strange arts of Theurgy and Forbidden & Arcanus. Many spells are just as useful at home as in a dungeon.
  • Real seasons: crops grow only in their season, snow falls in winter and the quest book follows the year with seasonal chores, festivals and lifelong collections. Tough As Nails adds gentle temperature and thirst, so a warm hearth and clean water matter.
  • A homestead to love: Farmer's Delight cooking with more than twenty add-ons, fishing with Tide, bees, orchards, barnyard animals, Create's gentle machines for the kitchen, and hundreds of furniture and decoration blocks.
  • Living villages: MCA villagers with names, families and friendships. Grow a village of your own around your home.
  • The road out the door: the Twilight Forest, the Aether, the Bumblezone, the Deeper Dark, L_Ender's Cataclysm, new structures everywhere, seasonal adventure quests in The Watch, and optional vampires and werewolves for those who like the night.
  • A finale worth reaching: duel a champion of every school of magic in the Wizards' Tournament to become an Archmage, then open a wizard school: teach apprentices through the four seasons, celebrate each graduation with a Grand Feast at the village bell, and send your Journeymages out into the world.
  • A quest book that guides, not overwhelms: more than 1,100 quests along four roads: the Hearth (home), the Hex (magic), the Road (adventure) and the Hearthguard (combat). A new world shows only the first steps of each chapter and its goal; the rest appears as you play. Quests check what you actually built, caught, cooked or learned, and rewards never let you skip progress.
  • Made for cozy evenings: Complementary Reimagined shaders, Fresh Animations, Distant Horizons for far views, ambient sounds, rain you can hear from indoors, rainbows and falling leaves.
  • Play together: a ready server pack, shared sleeping so nobody skips the night alone, and land claims on the map.

Getting started

  • Allocate 10-12 GB of RAM (16 GB works well too). Below 8 GB the game runs out of memory.
  • Open the quest book and start with First Days. Four Roads from the Door shows the four ways to play.
  • Shaders are on by default. On a slower PC, switch to Miniature Shader or turn shaders off in Options, Video Settings, Shader Packs. If it stutters, lower the Distant Horizons render distance first.
