HOLLOW FREQUENCY
A HALLOWEEN STORY
A STORY-DRIVEN MINECRAFT ANALOG HORROR EXPERIENCE
Explore the unknown. Follow the signal. Survive what answers.
WHAT IS HOLLOW FREQUENCY?
Hollow Frequency: A Halloween Story is a carefully crafted Minecraft horror modpack that transforms the familiar survival experience into a complete, story-driven investigation.
Rather than simply adding scary creatures to Minecraft, Hollow Frequency brings together original storytelling, custom horror systems, guided progression, atmospheric exploration and cinematic moments to create an experience with its own identity.
You are placed in an isolated environment where your main objective is to investigate strange events, recover lost information and survive the dangers surrounding you.
The experience combines:
- Survival horror — Darkness, limited visibility and dangerous encounters make exploration a risk.
- Mystery and investigation — Discover clues, follow transmissions and piece together a larger story.
- Guided progression — A Field Journal and story quests help you understand what to do next.
- Psychological horror — Disturbing sounds, strange behavior and uncertainty create tension beyond ordinary combat.
- Cinematic storytelling — Scripted sequences and environmental details make the world feel like part of the story.
This is not a collection of unrelated horror mods. It is a connected experience designed around a single mystery.
HOW DOES IT PLAY?
Your journey begins at Echo-7, an isolated listening station surrounded by an unfamiliar forest.
From the beginning, you are given objectives to complete and mysteries to investigate.
You will need to repair equipment, search abandoned locations, follow radio signals, recover recordings and survive increasingly dangerous nights.
Your Field Journal acts as your guide, helping you follow the investigation without removing the freedom to explore.
As you progress, new locations, discoveries and story events reveal more about the world around you.
The gameplay is designed to move between moments of exploration, investigation and survival. Sometimes you will be searching for answers. Sometimes you will be trying to get back to safety.
And sometimes, the best decision is to stop exploring and listen.
A HORROR SYSTEM THAT REACTS TO YOU
The Fear Director is one of the central systems behind Hollow Frequency.
Instead of relying only on predictable jump scares, this custom system creates tension through a combination of environmental conditions, darkness, isolation, strange sounds and dangerous encounters.
The experience becomes increasingly unsettling as time passes.
You may hear something moving nearby.
You may notice a figure watching from a distance.
Or the entire forest may suddenly fall silent.
Not knowing what will happen next is part of the horror.
THE ECHOES
Hollow Frequency introduces 10 mysterious Echo entities, each contributing to the horror in different ways.
They are not simply monsters placed in the world to attack the player.
Some observe from a distance. Others stalk their targets, imitate familiar sounds or become direct threats.
Understanding their behavior is part of surviving.
Pay attention to the environment, learn to recognize suspicious activity and think carefully before approaching something unfamiliar.
NOT EVERYTHING YOU HEAR CAN BE TRUSTED.
A COMPLETE STORY TO INVESTIGATE
Hollow Frequency features a structured investigation filled with things to discover.
Throughout the experience, you can find:
- 12 Cassette Tapes — Lost transmissions, mysterious recordings and fragments of the story.
- 23 Hidden Notes — Written evidence scattered throughout the world.
- 68 Quests — A guided progression system built around exploration, objectives and discoveries.
- A Field Journal — Your personal guide to the investigation.
- Abandoned Relay Towers — Locations connected to the mysterious signal.
- Cinematic Events — Scripted moments that bring the story to life.
- Two Endings — Different conclusions to the investigation.
The story is not delivered through one long explanation.
You discover it by playing.
AN ATMOSPHERE BUILT FOR FEAR
Hollow Frequency focuses heavily on immersion.
The world is designed to feel unsettling even when nothing is actively chasing you.
Expect dark forests, thick fog, distant noises, radio interference, atmospheric music and unpredictable encounters.
Custom analog-inspired visuals, menus and presentation help establish the identity of the experience, while a minimal HUD keeps your attention on the environment.
The goal is not constant action.
The goal is to make you question whether you are truly alone.
PLAY ALONE OR WITH FRIENDS
Hollow Frequency is designed to be experienced in singleplayer or multiplayer.
In singleplayer, the isolation makes every unexplained sound and unexpected encounter feel personal.
In multiplayer, you can investigate the mystery together, coordinate your exploration and survive the forest as a group.
Proximity voice chat adds another layer to the experience, making communication feel connected to the world around you.
Whether you choose to face Echo-7 alone or with friends, the investigation remains at the heart of the experience.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Hollow Frequency is best experienced without rushing or looking up every secret in advance.
Take your time exploring.
Pay attention to sounds and environmental details.
Read the notes you discover.
Listen carefully to the recordings.
Follow your Field Journal when you are unsure what to do next.
And remember that not every encounter is meant to be solved through combat.
EXPLORE. INVESTIGATE. SURVIVE.

THE STORY BEHIND THE SIGNAL
[ ECHO-7 / RECOVERED TRANSMISSION ]
October 31, 1988.
One year ago, three radio operators disappeared from a remote listening station.
No bodies were found.
No explanation was given.
But their final logbook contained something impossible.
Four signatures.
Now you've been sent to Echo-7.
The campfire is cold. The equipment is failing. The forest is silent.
And somewhere in the static, at 31.10 MHz, a transmission is still repeating.
You don't recognize the voice.
But it seems to recognize yours.
DO NOT ANSWER IT.
[ END OF TRANSMISSION ]
31.10 MHz — THE SIGNAL IS STILL ALIVE.
