Description

Hunters In The Night is a modpack designed to perfectly balance horror and difficulty, and throws you into a world to learn how to face and execute dwellers instead of running away in fear. You will not be spoon-fed to victory and be guided by the hand. The Story goes like this:
You are a prisoner who has been chosen as a part of their sentence to be thrown into an environment unlike anything they've ever seen before. This area is filled of anomalies that are beyond human comprehension. Monsters that only know how to breathe and kill, mutilated and mutated animals that were once normal, cities with unexplainable craters and loot and so much more. To your horror, the government has also given you a task which stated is the only way you will be granted your freedom: to complete a kill list, containing over a dozen dangerous entities called "dwellers", to which they claim the samples from the bodies will be used for research to better understand these creatures. In your head you wonder: do they just want me dead? Why wouldn't they just execute me instead?
In a rare act of generosity, the government has allowed you to take as much supplies as you can carry to your new home before they send you out. They have also thrown a "survival guide and kit" to help you. Other than that, however, you are completely on your own, and will have to learn how to make the tools necessary to not only defend yourself, but to also take down the dwellers.
Now that you've seen the general story, here are some of the features that this modpack offers:

In General, This Modpack Contains
- Over 200+ mods
- Multiplayer-compatible elements and mods (like proximity chat, and server-performance mods)
- 3+ "Endings" (Huge turning points in the story where you choose to continue or not)
- 3 starter characters to choose from
- Dozens of tasks from FTB Quests to help you out
- Many changes and additions to vanilla minecraft difficulty and display (more on this below)
- Many optimization mods and QOL mods to help with your performance and experience
- Keep Inventory enabled for a smoother experience
- Much more below!
Requirements & Recommendations
- 4GB to 6GB is REQUIRED for smooth gameplay
- Shaders are not required, but are heavily recommended for full immersion
- Brightness recommended to stay at moody

To start off, I would like to mention that this modpack is HARD (personally, this is like completing RLCraft on hardcore.) My advice is to take things slowly and do not rush. The saying "better be safe than sorry" could not apply more here. This is a true challenge.
Dwellers
- There are more than a dozen individual dwellers and entities that you will need to exterminate in this modpack! These include:
- The Impersonator Villager by ZZiggs
- Better Cave Dweller by 8bitmika
- Cartoon Dweller by Dangerous_Buhanka
- The Corpse Stalker by Flamc04, Cadentdm, & Gargin
- The Knocker by M_Productions
- The Man From The Fog by M_Productions
- The Midnight Lurker by Voxla
- The Mimic/Player Dweller by ZZiggs
- The Pale Hound by SpukuzTrucuz
- The Starved Stalker by ItsSmudgey
- The Wendigo from Whispers of The Wendigo by MSSHD
- And a few more that are not in the kill list, but are added as a nice surprise when playing!
Semi-Hardcore
- You only have 10 lives, and every time you die, you lose one heart. You can also regain hearts however by eating enchanted golden apples, which are craftable with the original recipe in this modpack.
- Once you've lost all of your lives, you will be forced into spectator mode. (You can easily cheat to get back into survival but that's up to you)
Other Mobs You Will Face
- In addition to the dwellers and other entities in the kill list, this land is infested with mutated versions of minecraft mobs. These mobs are very dangerous and they are all hostile.
- Many of the vanilla mobs on this land are more unfriendly and smarter. Always be cautious when you are near them.
- Addition of more mobs from Naturalist and Better Animals Plus.
- The ocean is no longer safe, many hostile sea creatures now roam the seas, making it harder to set up an underwater base (most dwellers will also move much faster in water)
Other Important Additions
- Due to your fears, you now not be able to sleep until you are sure that it is safe enough outside. You must need to wait until midnight before you are confident it is safe to go to bed.
- Many of the dweller's stats have been tweaked. Some of them are now much harder to kill than before.
- Because of the horrors you face on this land, your sanity starts to fluctuate. A lot of the actions you will do will have an effect on your very fragile sanity.
- Blood moons can have a chance to happen, but they are very low.
- Dark places are now much more darker and threatening thanks to the True Darkness mod.
- And many more!

I've added quite a few fun items to not make this modpack too depressing and virtually impossible. These things will help you in some way to complete the kill list, but you will need to experiment and find out how.
Weapons Everywhere
- You are able to craft hundreds of weapons from many different gun manufacturers/mods. These manufacturers include NineZero's Gun Expansion, Just Enough Guns, Additional Guns, Mo' Guns, MrCrayfish Gun Mod, Stabx Modern Guns.
- Please remember that when you are crafting ammo for the gun that you've made, that the ammo is from the same mod as the gun. There are duplicate guns/ammo in a few of these gun mods, and you can view who made this ammo when you hover over the ammo or your gun.)
- There are also many different melee weapons you can craft or rarely find as loot which can aid you in fighting smaller enemies (unless you decide to fight a dweller with a spear).
Artifacts & Other Treasures
- Artifacts left behind from the unknown inhabitants of the city are scattered around the cities and underground. These artifacts can range from being helpful to be almost game changing.
- Caves in this land are very different from normal caves. Not only do they have more ores, but they now also have 2 new ore types, black opal and amethyst (from Ores Above Diamonds.) Dense ores also exist here, providing an extra ore when mined unlike non-dense ores.
- Different craftable "pets" (you can also find them in chests in special areas like clouds for some reason) that have many different helpful abilities (from Inventory Pets) can also help you and provide you your only comfort in this nightmare.
- Extra loot can also be found in the chests found in cities and the underground from various different mods.
Secure Yourself
- Don't rely on just yourself to watch your back. Security Craft also offers many different items to help you secure your base and watch out for anything sneaking up on you (such as cameras which is my personal favorite).
- Many traps you can craft can help you slow down, or even immobilize your enemies for a few seconds to help you think about what you should do next.
- A traveler's compass can help you identify if a creature is near you or not by dragging spawn eggs into the compass using JEI.
- Extra loot can also be found in the chests found in cities and the underground from various different mods.
Other Additional Items
- Many different items from many mods such as backpacks (from Sophisticated Backpacks) will also help you. Find out more when playing in game!

HITR's Design
- The design of the Hunters In The Night was made by holamanuel (me) and yeayea017. Thank you to yeayea017 for also creating the artwork for the game cover as well as the artwork in the main menu screen.
The Look of the Modpack
- The main texture pack used for this modpack is the Excalibur pack by Maffhew for its realistic feel that pairs up very nicely with the main shader for the pack, Insanity shaders by ElocinDev, to create an overall unsettling atmosphere. Optional shaders I included for fun and preference include the PSX_MCSX and Spooklementary shaders!
- The default world generation is cities from the Lost Cities mod. You can disable it easily when creating a world by just disabling it in the world creation menu through the lost cities tab.
- Many different camera mods were added to create a more realistic player movement experience you would see in classic horror games.
- In addition to cities, many other structure mods were added for additional exploration.
- The font is the Souls Font by GamerPotion to that fits nicely with the horror theme.
- Many different realistic sounds and ambience mods and resource packs were added for additional realism and scary moments.
- A day counter mod (Haven Day Display) is added if you are doing a hundred days challenge or something similar.
- YDM's Weapon Master is added if you want to display your weapons on your character.

Secrets
- This modpack contains a few secrets that are all part of a bigger story (yes this modpack has a bit of lore I like having lore in stuff I create), especially with the endings. See if you can find them all!
- The endings in particular are very hard to get, which ending one being the easiest and ending three being the hardest, but they also add to the story.

If you want to contact me for anything (suggestions, showcases, youtube videos, mod owners wanting to ask about things, bugs, etc.) you can find and add me on discord (my username is holamanuelito). Comments are fine as well, but I prefer using discord to answer things.
Thank you, and good luck!
