About this pack
HyperSpike - dead end optimization
is a hardware-focused fork of Keo Optimized by GokuKEO, re-tuned specifically for very low-end laptops: dual-core/dual-thread CPUs, 8GB of RAM, and integrated graphics — the kind of hardware found in budget government-issued education laptops (like Argentina's Conectar Igualdad program).
All credit for the original mod selection and pack architecture goes to GokuKEO. This fork keeps the same 71-mod foundation and focuses entirely on deep configuration tuning for hardware that the base pack wasn't originally built around.
What's Different From the Original
- JVM & memory tuning validated against real swap/GC profiling on a 2-thread, 8GB test device, avoiding the swap thrashing that stock settings can cause on this class of hardware.
- Explicit thread caps for C2ME and Sodium's chunk builder instead of relying on auto-detection, since auto-detect formulas can behave unpredictably on 2-thread CPUs.
- De-duplicated culling stack: the original pack had Chloride, EntityCulling and MoreCulling independently culling the same things (entities, monsters, block entities, leaves). This fork removes the overlapping checks and keeps a single, more efficient culling path per feature.
- Render distance & simulation distance tuned to match GPU-less integrated graphics, including RenderScale, particle counts, and entity/culling ranges brought in line with the actual render distance instead of running redundant long-range checks.
- Startup/logging overhead trimmed (diagnostic logging left on by default in several mods, which adds unnecessary I/O on slow storage).
RECOMMENDED JVM ARGUMENTS:
-XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=35 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=16M -XX:G1NewSizePercent=22 -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:G1MaxNewSizePercent=40 -XX:InitiatingHeapOccupancyPercent=15 -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+UseStringDeduplication -XX:+OptimizeStringConcat -XX:ReservedCodeCacheSize=448m -XX:+PerfDisableSharedMem -XX:CompileThreshold=500 -XX:+UseCriticalJavaThreadPriority -XX:ThreadPriorityPolicy=1 -Djava.awt.headless=true
Who This Is For
If you're trying to run modern Minecraft on a Celeron/Pentium-class laptop, a Chromebook-tier device, or any machine with 2 CPU threads and 8GB of RAM or less, this fork is built specifically for that scenario — not just "optimized" in the general sense, but tuned against real profiling data from that exact hardware tier.
