About

Description

Creatures of pure hunger & malice have decimated the solar system.

The world is diseased, and the only cure is you.

Your mission is simple:

Kill The Parasites can be described as a first-person shooter or run n' gun modpack.

Inspired by the likes of the modern DOOM trilogy (DOOM 2016, DOOM Eternal, & DOOM: The Dark Ages), ULTRAKILL, Half-Life/Black Mesa, this modpack aims to be high-octane and fast-paced, with movement mechanics and gunplay that attempt to mimic the aforementioned old-school shooters.

In this pack, there is no mining & there is no crafting. You are thrust into infinitely generating cities with your entire means of progression, & all forms of resource gathering -- health, weapons, ammo, etc. -- being killing parasites

You are outnumbered one to one million, & yet the odds are entirely in your favor.

WORLDGEN

The worldgen consists of modified Lost Cities, Modern Ruins, & several other miscellaneous mods such as Dynamic Trees.

The Lost Cities mod ensures that variety is the spice of life when it comes to combat spaces. It can either consist of large flat lands and roads, or grand vertical spaces that make zero architectural sense but are most certainly a joy to move around in.

AESTHETIC

The aesthetic, mostly inspired by Half-Life 2, utilizes numerous resource packs (such as Pixel Reality), cosmetic mods (such as Fogger, ClassicBar, Ambient Environment, etc.), and custom retextures (like the HUD or the addition of sound effects from games such as DOOM) to sell the idea that the world you are entering is completely barren.

Using the Music Player mod by pressing F8, you can also import your own music playlists into the pack, whether it's heavy metal, DnB, or moody ambience.

MOVEMENT

Inspired by the likes of DOOM Eternal & ULTRAKILL, you are given a multitude of movement options to assist you in your one-person army against the hordes.

These options include but are not limited to:

  • Bunnyhopping with Squake
  • Dashing with ElenaiDodge2
  • Double-Jumping with an enchantment from GrapplingHookMod
  • Trimping with Squake
  • Dash-Jumping with the combination of all three movement mods at hand
  • Hopefully some day rocket-jumping or grenade-jumping but that's not a thing right now

COMBAT

Inspired by the DOOM games, combat in Kill The Parasites ENTIRELY revolves around guns, utilizing guns from Techguns & Flan's Mod that have had their sounds, stats, textures, or all three changed. With over 40+ weapons across 4 different weapon tiers to choose from, it is safe to say you will have plenty of options to fight the infinitely expanding parasites.

& with the backbone of the modpack Scape & Run: Parasites being involved, you are ensured to have a wide variety of enemies to blow apart with your weaponry.

Killing enemies is the only source of health, armor durability, & ammunition. You are by all means encouraged to be aggressive, because your life quite literally depends on it.

PROGRESSION

Progression in Kill The Parasites is measured in Phases, with each Phase determining the difficulty of enemies that spawn & the resources that are unlocked to you.

Throughout the game, you will almost always be collecting some form of currency or resources.

You can then use these currencies to upgrade your armor (increasing its defense & durability, or giving new perks such as immunity to knockback), buy new weapons, buy Augments, or even upgrade core stats (Maximum health, maximum armor, & maximum ammo capacity).

At the same time, however, stronger & stronger enemies will begin to spawn in an effort to stop you as you grow more powerful.

... & more!

UPCOMING CONTENT

Even after all of that, Kill The Parasites is still considered by me to be a tech demo for what's to come later.

Here's a list of changes and content that I would like to get accomplished before the first formal release:

  • Every Flan's Mod gun retextured & given new sounds (Many are still visually unchanged)
  • A handful of remodels for Techguns guns
  • Better parity between Techguns & Flan's Mod (i.e. 2D inventory sprites for Techguns guns, consistent gun UI for both, etc.)
  • More movement options such as Rocket/Grenade Jumping, propelling yourself using high-power weapons like the Gauss Cannon or Explosive Sniper Rifle, and... potentially a grappling hook? We'll see how I feel about it

And, most importantly... an actual FPS-styled Campaign, where you go through a series of pre-built maps that take full advantage of the combat systems and enemy variety.

This campaign will be extensively tweaked before being released, starting with the release of Level 1 (with what currently exists in the pack becoming Level 2), then more levels being released afterward.
