Masocraft, or Masochist Minecraft is a rigorous adventure-based modpack infused with magical and technological elements. Go on a journey with unique music where at worst you want to die, and a best you're mildly comfortable.
Focuses on automation and resource processing through scientific and mechanical means, utilizing systems like electricity (RF/FE/etc), air pressure, or rotation.
Centers around fantasy elements such as spells, rituals, and magical energies, often involving personal empowerment and magical automation.
Designed to be difficult and challenging for experienced players, often with many hours of gameplay.
Forge is a popular mod loader for versions 1.1+ of Minecraft.

About
Description

Objective
You have no official quests or guidance so my only advice is to utilize various mods when forming your path of survival while exploring a world jam packed with places to explore and enemies to kill! Advance technologically, physically, and magically as you try to escape IMMINENT DEATH, but know, if you're are alive, then your killer is as well.
Description
This was originally a modpack for My friends and I, but one night after realizing how easy it was to get lucky and kill everything we decided it needed some tweaking. As one thing led to another, the initial ~40 mods turned into an excruciatingly difficult 130+ modpack. What's important to note is that I didn't want the player to simply be weak or fragile, so instead I increased the world's difficulty and everything within it. This means you the player aren't debuffed (and can even use skill to survive), but everything else is just extremely good at killing you.
Key Features
- Multiple exploration and landscape mods
- Custom music
- Enhanced player control
- Scaling difficulty
- Enhanced mob AI's and difficulty
- A plethora of new mobs, bosses, and dimensions to explore
- Rendering and sound improvements
- A multitude of tools at your disposal
- Variety tech and magic mods (to help life a little)
Allocation Recommendations
- At least 7gb (8gb+ with shaders) for client
- At least intel i5 processor
- At least 4gb to run server (6gb recommended)
Quick Tips
- Craft a shield (multiple available) and weapon as soon as you can because you're gonna need it
- double tap in different directions to dodge and use shit to wall jump, this will save your life many times
- Exploring and looting is the quickest way to get stronger up to a certain point
- Zombies and other monsters are attracted to light and sound so be careful when lighting up your base or the area
- Make sure you're base is fortified in some form (walls, bunker, etc.) and use minimal amounds of burnable stuff. Keep in mind some biomes are more dangerous than others
- Creepers fuse when walking towards you and turn invisible too close, so ALWAYS look at your minimap (plus they explode fire)
- Zombies will build and break blocks if they see you (a few blocks of xray vision too)
- Tinkers is your friend. Invest in it at some point.
- Blight mobs (purple fire) and infernal mobs can drop items to increase health
- You can "teleport around" using items from cyclic, teleportation pads from open blocks (skybase ;] ), and encahnted gravestone keys.
Major mods
Game elements
Scaling health, Progressive bosses: Responsible for lowering the players health and increasing the game difficulty.
Zombieawareness, Epic Siege mod, Rough mobs 2: Responsible for the stupidly smart and accurate mob AI's.
Natura, biomes o plenty: More biomes to the game.
Walljump, Move plus: Allows the player to walljump and dodge.
Ambience, Sound filters: Creates more unique and immersive sounds/music in the game.
Mobs/Exploration
Ice and Fire, Lycanites mobs, Mowzies mobs: Mods solely used to add mobs and bosses.
Advent of Ascension, Twilight forest, Aether II: Large chunks of exploration; these add new dimensions (24) and tons of content to go with them
Recurrent complex, Battletowers, Rougelike dungeons, Ruins: Responsible for interesting structure generation in the over world
Content
Roots, Astral sorcery, Botania, Blood magic: Magic mods, cause magic is cool
Tinkers contruct, Applied energistics, Thermal foundation, Baubles (and such): More technical mods or mods based purely of items.
Optional files
I recommend trying to play with optifine HD U F5 (1.12.2) to use some form of Sildur's Shaders (nothing above v1.22) and/or the LB Photo Realism Reload texture pack (for 1.12.2 of course) which looks particularly good with certain mods. If you can't run both, at least try the texture pack on its own, but of course you don't need either to play this torturous game.
As of May 6 2020, you will have to manually add shaders and optifine. There won't be two versions anymore.
Planned Updates
- Balancing the modpack (may add, remove, or configure certain mods)
Bugs
- Starting a single player world may require a restart. It generates the world but doesn't always load it, so restarting makes it work fine from then on out.
- Recurrent Complex may load too many structures at once causing server clients to be closed for lagging to long. If this occurs change the max tick time in server properties to -1.
- When updating you may lose your way points, but they can simply be brought back by transferring the config files of Xaero's minimap to the updated version and replacing the ones there.
*This is meant to be difficult, but if something is straight up impossible (or too easy) please report it along with bugs and other needed fixes*
