About
Description
Last Harvest is a Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge modpack focused on farming, building, exploration, animals, cooking, village growth, and survival.
The main idea is simple:
Start with a small farm, explore the world, grow crops, raise animals, cook food, build a settlement, upgrade your farm with carts and tractors, and eventually protect everything you built from zombie hordes.
This is not a full zombie apocalypse modpack. Farming, building, exploring, and growing your village are still the main parts of the game. Zombies are there to give the world an extra challenge and give you a reason to build walls, guard towers, and a strong settlement.
What You Can Do
Farming
Farming has been expanded with:
- Dozens of new crops
- Fruit trees
- Better farming tools
- Sprinklers
- Fertilizer
- Feeding troughs
- Horse powered plows and carts
- Tractors
- Better cooking and food production
You can start with a basic farm and eventually build much larger fields using tractors and upgraded tools.
Animals
The world has many more animals than vanilla Minecraft.
Different animals can appear in different biomes, giving you more reasons to explore.
You can build:
- Ranches
- Barns
- Animal pens
- Stables
- A zoo
There are also improved dairy and animal food systems.
Cooking
There are hundreds of new foods and ingredients.
You can build proper:
- Kitchens
- Bakeries
- Restaurants
- Vineyards
- Dairy farms
Farmer's Delight and several other food mods make farming useful for much more than basic survival.
Build a Village
MineColonies lets you build your own settlement.
You can create:
- Houses
- Farms
- Mines
- Warehouses
- Restaurants
- Guard towers
- Barracks
- Workshops
Citizens can work different jobs and your settlement can grow into a large town.
This gives farming and resource gathering a bigger purpose because you are no longer only collecting food and materials for yourself.
Zombies and Hordes
Last Harvest includes The Hordes.
Normal Minecraft still plays mostly like normal Minecraft. You are not constantly surrounded by hundreds of zombies.
Instead, certain nights can become horde nights.
During a horde, groups of zombies begin spawning and attacking players.
This creates moments where you need to stop farming or building and actually defend your home.
As your farm and village grow, it becomes more important to think about things like:
- Walls
- Gates
- Lighting
- Guard towers
- Safe animal areas
- Protected storage
- MineColonies guards
There is also MineColonies compatibility included so hordes work better around your settlement.
The zombies are meant to make the world feel more dangerous and give defenses a purpose, not turn the entire pack into a zombie game.
Most days can still be spent peacefully farming, decorating, cooking, exploring, fishing, or expanding the village.
Then occasionally you get a night where everyone needs to get inside the walls.
Exploration
The world has many new biomes, structures, caves, animals, and places to discover.
You can find:
- New forests and landscapes
- New plants and wood types
- Better dungeons
- Better mineshafts
- Better temples
- Better strongholds
- New cave environments
- New animals
- More fishing content
Exploration is useful for finding animals, building materials, food, loot, and locations for new settlements.
Building
Last Harvest includes a large collection of furniture and building mods.
There are many new:
- Furniture pieces
- Windows
- Doors
- Roofs
- Fences
- Bridges
- Lights
- Decorations
- Building blocks
You can build everything from a small farmhouse to a large fortified town.
Quality of Life
The pack also includes useful features such as:
- Backpacks
- Better storage
- Waystones
- Minimap
- World map
- Biome compass
- Structure compass
- Corpse system
- Individual multiplayer loot
- Zoom
- Shader support
Tips
Use JEI.
There are a lot of recipes. JEI shows how almost everything is crafted.
Use Nature's Compass.
It helps find specific biomes, which is useful for finding animals and resources.
Use Explorer's Compass.
It helps find structures.
Give your village room to grow.
MineColonies can become much larger than expected.
Build defenses before you need them.
A small wall does not seem important until a horde night starts.
Try the carts before tractors.
AstikorCarts gives you a nice early farming stage before upgrading to powered machinery.
Explore for animals.
Many animals only naturally spawn in certain environments.
