Many self-acclaimed vanilla+ modpacks only add features that Mojang should've added already or they add far too many mods that alter the core gameplay mechanics too much.

Mobs & Mines is the place between the 2, it fills in Mojang's holes while still expanding the exploration and building aspects of the game in it's own special ways.
