Description

  Modern Nostalgia

A modpack for modern versions of Minecraft

___________________________________

There are a lot of people that think the beta versions of Minecraft were some of the best. That's subjective, of course, but I personally agree. While modern Minecraft is good, there is definitely something to be said about the nostalgia and relaxing feeling of the older versions of the game. However, playing these older versions can be a jarring experience, because of the lack of the modern bug fixes, quality of life updates, and optimizations (especially when it comes to game performance). This modpack aims to unite the old feeling of the beta versions with the more polished experience of the modern game.

The modpack, by default, aims to replicate the feeling of the Beta 1.7.3 version, but you can easily modify it to fit your own taste. (Example; if you prefer the adventure update combat, remove "Golden Age Combat" by Fuzs. If you would like something more along the lines of the original console releases, try re-enabling hunger (by default, the keybind to access these settings is 'O').

The modpack is (arguably) lightweight; coming in at around 63 mods (17 of which are client-sided and can be safely removed) and 2 resource packs. Includes Sodum, Lithium, FerriteCore, Krypton, LazyDFU, Clumps, and Let Me Despawn to boost performance. it should run on almost anything that can run Minecraft itself. (Note, Starlight has been purposefully excluded due to causing glitches with lighting.)

Also features a bundled in resource pack to change emeralds to rubies, poppies to roses, dandelions to the old texture, and blue orchids to cyan flowers. Can be disabled if that's not your thing.

Featuring;

  • A handful of upgrades to world generation - the world (should) generate like beta, but with new structures that fit the same vibe. (Including Additional Structures, Explorify, Repurposed Structures, and YUNG's Extras)
  • Many bug fixes over the original beta versions; those fixed by Mojang in following updates, 70 courtesy of Debugify
  • A handful of quality of life tweaks; Anvil Restoration, Trinkets compatibility, Crafting Tweaks, Double Doors, Fixed Anvil Repair Cost, Friendly Fire, Inventory Essentials, Trade Cycling, FallingTree
  • Seasons (Fabric Seasons), as well as Fabric Seasons: Extras and SeasonHUD
  • Furniture (Adorn) that fits the beta textures and feel
  • Backpacks (INMIS) as well as a backpack slot
  • Waystones for easy travel around the world
  • Xaero's Minimap and World Map, as well as XaeroPlus for Waystones compatibility
  • Sleeping bags and hammocks (Comforts)
  • Upgraded storage (Iron Chests: Restocked)
  • Nature's Compass and Explorer's Compass
  • Visual upgrades over the original beta versions; Clear Despawn, Easy Anvils, Easy Magic, Visual Workbench, YDM's MobHealthBar
  • JEI, obviously, I'm not a monster
  • The alpha soundtrack (you know the one), which plays exclusively

How to Play

This modpack (and all others on CurseForge) require the CurseForge launcher to be installed. No getting around that one, sorry

Go to the newest release and click 'Install with CurseForge app'. The CurseForge app should then open and the modpack will automatically install

OR

Search for the modpack within the launcher and click 'Install'. The modpack should take a few seconds to install, and then be ready to play!

Credits;

Stridey for the Vanilla Tweaks textures, find them here (removed in the 1.2 update)

PoeticRainbow for Golden Days, which the 1.2 addon resource pack is based off of, find it here

 b3spectacled and Adrenix for Modern Beta and Nostalgic Tweaks, the only reason this modpack exists in the first place

C418 for the Minecraft Alpha soundtrack

And thank you, for playing! :)
