About
Description
As a phoenix rises from its ashes, so too does the world of Phoenix Dawn. Adventurers come to it and are guided through it by open ended quests covering much of the vast array of mods that contribute to this modpack. No dimension has been left untouched. The overworld has extensive cave systems, overhauled villages and random structures, and an assortment of new biomes composed of vanilla assets. Vast rivers cross the world and provide excellent highways for shipbound travellers, who are supported with an assortment of small to large sail ships for exploration and trade for yourself and your friends.
Monsters are everywhere, as is wildlife. Populated by mods such as Environmental, Alex’s Mobs, Mowzies Mobs, and others, you’ll encounter lots of wildlife. Many of them may even be Champions, which will prove to be difficult but are more rewarding to defeat. Some are mini-bosses, and some even may rival the Ender Dragon in strength. Walk carefully and carry a big stick.
The land is littered with derelict structures, shipwrecks, dungeons, mineshafts, bastions, and a whole assortment of other buildings. You’ll not need to build your own home if you don’t want to – but you might need to fight off it’s previous inhabitants, especially if you enter a tower with an underground labyrinth offered by DungeonCrawl. The avid explorer will be rewarded for continuing to move, and the hidden secrets of Phoenix Dawn offer up treasures of great value that the base-builders may be interested in buying from you… though they, too, will be able to craft items of great power with a little focus and intention.
The oceans haven’t been neglected either, with Aquaculture 2 and Upgrade Aquatic bringing great depth to your shorelines and life to the deeps. Fishing is rewarding, and there are many ways to fish, from rods, to custom rods, to aquatic entanglers or water strainers, you will find a great bounty from the water. Dangers lurk there as well, don’t be fooled. But to the brave, and those with big boats, much treasure awaits!
Horses as well are core to getting around, and come with a variety of improvements, not least of which a deep system of breeding for different stats and visual traits. The intrepid adventurer can find tools to enhance their mounted experiences such as jousting lances, an assortment of horse carts, and craftable armor suits. Horses, once claimed, can also be called with a cross-dimensional whistle as long as they live, so they’re never far from you.
Horses aren’t the only genetics you will face – AgriCraft will offer you the challenging task of breeding up and mutating your crops for strength to endure the different seasons that Serene Seasons brings to the land. You’ll also be able to grow traditionally wild crops as farm crops, and with some cunning, your crops will be far more productive than your neighbours. Explorers may aid you by bringing you seeds from crops that you haven’t been able to breed yet, but you’ll return the favor by breeding those seeds for strength and yield!
And with all these crops, cooking equipment is not far behind. Extensive kitchens offered by Farmer’s Delight and Cooking for Blockheads will make your job more immersive, less of a headache, and more potent. Along with Simple Farming and Drink Beer!, you’ll be able to craft foods and drinks that will aid you and your friends in battle. For the dedicated tinkerer, these potent brews can be automated from seed to bottle with a little ingenuity thanks to dozens of custom recipes via KubeJS.
Villages have been massively enhanced, thanks to Repurposed Structures, Village Guards, and Bountiful, as well as numerous mods offering their mod-specific villagers. It is a worthy investment to take over a village, tend to its inhabitants, and invest in it’s security and infrastructure. With bounty boards available as well, you will be richly rewarded for a variety of time-limited quests. For the extraordinarily dedicated royal, MineColonies are also available and add a whole layer of depth to interactive life with NPCs – perhaps you could layer a Colony over a Village for the best experience? But beware, both can then be raided with pillagers, Vikings, and barbarians! Armor up!
The Nether and the End have been rocked and re-rolled. New creatures and new biomes have broken in and shaken up familiar domains into unfamiliar fantastical mysteries, equally dangerous as they are alluring. Come prepared for a fight and bring a bag for loot. Step carefully, traveller. As if they weren’t enough, adventurers also have access to The Undergarden and the Twilight Forest. Many encounters there are suited for individual explorers, and many may require strong friends to aid you.
Builders are not forgotten in this pack. From Building Gadgets, to Exchangers, to FramedBlocks that offer angles, corners, and cut blocks that are traditionally excluded, builders will have countless tools to make their craft more potent and aesthetic. Create Deco and Engineer’s Décor, while offering some useful gadgets, also come with dozens of aesthetic blocks to enhance your farms, villages, and factories. Chisel massively enhances the number of block options available to the keen eyed builder. And there’s a measuring tape. No more awkward wool counting blocks.
There are numerous options for equipment available to builder, explorer, warrior, and farmer alike. Tetra is always a valuable place to start, and can provide some powerful tools for war and peace alike. Immersive Engineering provides armor and weapons, as well as mining and lumberjack equipment. PneumaticCraft brings tools, weapons, armor, and market access to your hands; there are some very potent options here. Thermal Series has you covered a few different ways over, just not for weapons. Create offers builders tools as well as a potato cannon.
Looking for some direction? There’s a challenges section in the quest book to guide you through various progressions and massive achievements. From bosses, to farming, to exploring, and more. There are many streams you can go to to enjoy Phoenix Dawn. Some bite back.
With this being an exploration and tech pack, I would be remiss to not share with you that your tech needs are met via Create (mechanical force), Thermal Series (Redstone Flux), PneumaticCraft (Air Pressure), Immersive Engineering/Engineer’s Décor (Forge Energy), and RFTools (Forge Energy). You will also have access to Bigger Reactors for nuclear power needs. There are many ways to transmit power, items, and fluids. There are many ways to store them. ProjectRed will meet your redstone circuit needs in many, many tidy ways. The FTB Quests book will guide you in your tinkering adventures.
