Features

Visual & Feature Enhancements

Photogenetic modifies Minecraft's appearance and adds features using client-side enhancements. Designed to work on any vanilla server, it includes:

  • Dual Pre-Configured Shaders: Includes two configured shader packs based on Complimentary Shaders, set up for immediate use:
    • One setup for Ray-Tracing, enabling ray-traced lighting, shadows, and reflections. (Complimentary with Euphoria patches)
    • One Non-Ray Traced version providing shader effects with higher performance compared to the ray-tracing option. (Rethinking Voxels)
    • PBR Texture Support: Includes PBR resourcepacks for better textures, reflections and details on every block.
    • Enhanced Animations: Includes modifications for player and environmental animations.
    • Increased Render Distance: This modpack has DistantHorizons support, which is also shipped with the modpack.
    • UI Modifications: Includes changes to the user interface.
    • Quality of Life Utilities: Includes utilities such as an in-game screenshot viewer, a screenshot-to-clipboard function, camera zoom and much more.
    • Fully Optimized: Photogenetic is powered and built upon my modpack Velocity for optimization.

Client-Side & Compatibility

  • Purely Client-Side: Can be used to join any vanilla Minecraft server without server-side installation.
  • Mod Compatibility Note: While Photogenetic is designed as a client-sided modpack, compatibility with other mods is not guaranteed nor tested.
  • OLED Screen: The visual changes may appear more pronounced on OLED displays due to their contrast capabilities.

System Specs, Performance & Minimum Requirements (Click to expand)

My Test System Specs & Performance (For Reference)

  • Device: Asus Zephyrus G14 (GA403UI)
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS
  • RAM: 32 GB DDR5 RAM (6GB allocated for Photogenetic testing)
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU (8GB VRAM)
  • Storage: NVMe SSD
  • Screen: 2880 x 1800 120Hz OLED Monitor
  • Performance:
    • ~50 FPS (Ray Tracing Shader)
    • 140+ FPS (Non-Ray Traced Shader)

Minimum System Requirements

Actual performance depends on resolution, selected shader, render distance, and in-game conditions. These estimates target playable framerates (roughly 30-60 FPS depending on shader) at 1080p resolution.

Minimum (Non-Ray Traced Shader - ~45-60 FPS Target):

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 / Intel Core i5-10400 or equivalent
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super (6GB) / AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT (6GB) or equivalent
  • RAM: 16GB System RAM (Allocate 4GB to Minecraft)
  • Storage: SSD Recommended

Minimum (Ray Tracing Shader - ~30-45 FPS Target):

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 / Intel Core i5-10400 or equivalent
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti (8GB) / AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT (12GB) or better (Note: NVIDIA GPUs generally show better performance in ray tracing workloads)
  • RAM: 16GB System RAM (Allocate 6GB to Minecraft)
  • Storage: SSD Recommended
