You spawn in an common world.
You can explore these like in Vanilla. Then the first mods follow which you can bring in and benefit from them.
For example, later in the game you no longer have to mine ore, you can grow them or duplicate them via emc.
You can also play witch your friends.
The Modpack is based on Technology. However ther are also other mods.
A minimum of 4GB ram is recommended for a smooth gaming experience
