Secrets of the world awaits...

Proxima's Magical Library is a magic-focused 1.20.1 modpack for Forge. Bringing together mods such as Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks, Hexerei, Blood Magic, Malum, Hexcasting... and more. Roughly 20 different magic mods, and a lot of addons on top of them.

Shadow Wizard Money Gang, we love casting SPELLS !!

  • Create your own spells with Ars Nouveau, Mana & Artifice and PSI (to name a few)
  • Explore a vibrant world enhanced by Complementary Shaders, Biomes O' Plenty, Oh the Biomes We've Gone...
  • Fight bosses from Calamity, Alex's Mobs and more !
  • Master martial arts with Better Combat, Fantasy Weapons & Armors and Epic Knights
  • Perform powerful rituals
  • Summon demons
  • Brew your own potions
  • Build the perfect mage tower...

...There's a lot of stuff to do ! And i only named a few. This is a pack for the mages, the witches, the enchanters and the arcanists, the alchemists and the sorcerers. Tech mods are NOT included in this pack. Not even you, Create !

(welp, except for Botania, maybe... but it doesn't look like tech... and you don't have to use Botania anyway)

This pack is a work in progress. As of now (january 2026) there are very few quests. The main point of the quest book for now is to group all the guidebooks of the mods used in the pack. Some of these mods rely on achievement rather than books, be warned.

This pack is not meant to be balanced, or fair towards anything else than the players. You WILL become overpowered quickly. It is up to you to make cool stuff with all your newfound powers. Don't stop at simple spells ; why just destroy a block when you can erase a mountain ?

This pack is for you if...

  • ...you want to do epic PvP with your friends
  • ...you like to understand mysteries and experiment with game mechanics
  • ...you like food. Yeah while this isn't the coziest pack ever there's many food and cooking mods.
  • ...you like exploration
  • ...you hate Create and AE2
  • ...you love casting SPELLS

Goals :

50 downloads ✅ That was so fast !

100 downloads ✅ : The Discord is up and running !

500 downloads ✅ : Added my Ko-Fi link to the page.

System requirements : Allocate 4GB of RAM at least, 6GB should be enough, but no more than 10GB.

Can barely run at 30 fps on integrated graphics in 720p. I don't know exactly what you should have to run the pack, but like always with Minecraft mods, you need a good processor. Playing in 1080p without shaders should be possible with most graphic cards on the market.

I personally play in 1440p with Complementary Unbound on Medium and Distant Horizons. I stay around 100 fps and go down to 70-80 with a lot of entities and effects. My specs are : GPU - RX 9060XT / CPU - Ryzen 5 7600X / 32 GB DDR5 RAM.

Known issues :

  • Entering the suitcase dimension from Pocket Repose for the first time will probably crash your game. However, upon reloading your world, you will be in the suitcase dimension and will be able to leave & come back without any problems. This bug is probably related to the fact that i use Synitra Connector, because this mod is for Fabric.
  • Travelling with the TARDIS from Tardis Refined can cause visual issues when using shaders. This is not related to this pack but rather caused by the relation between Tardis Refined and the shaders. See here for more info.
  • Can rarely crash at launch. I don't really know what's causing this (somehow related to Epic Knights Addon) but retarting your game will fix the issue.
  • Lag is still here despite all my efforts, but it's been greatly reduced. Wait for a bit after creating a new world before starting to play and this will mitigate most of the lag you can encounter.

In memoriam...

The mods i couldn't add :

Astral Sorcery, Electroblob's Wizardry, Thaumcraft, Trickster : No 1.20.1 version :(

Spectrum : Requires Trinkets. Putting Trinkets on top of Curios seems too much for me, and would overcomplicate the UI. I might find a workaround with Accessories later.

Sons of Sins : No clear documentation in-game. Might be added later along with a quest tree but honestly, it's quality is quite low compared to all of the other magic mods.

Epic Fight and its addons : Was in earlier versions, removed for various reasons (too much lag, straying too much from the pack's theme...)

Cataclysm Spellbooks : Ended support for 1.20.1.
