UPDATE: Simian now has a Fabric release!

Hey! Thanks for checking out Simian!

Let me level with you for a moment — I'm not that great at Minecraft. I've never been a great builder, traditional redstone doesn't make that much sense to me, and I'm awful at PVP.

But you know what I really love? Creativity, exploration, storytelling, and hanging out with my friends! So, I've slowly built up this modpack over the course of a few years, figuring out what stuff I do and don't like, and curating an experience that I personally find super enjoyable. If you're reading this, it means you've either clicked on the wrong CurseForge link, curiously stumbled upon Simian because you were looking for a new experience, or you're looking to join Simian SMP! Either way, what I've aimed for here is a Minecraft experience that sits in a comfy Vanilla++ sorta zone. Not so heavily modded that you feel like you got flashbanged with new and intimidating information, but still different enough from Vanilla that the core gameplay loop doesn't feel so lackluster or boring.

Here's a list of some of the more prominent mods in this pack, all of which can be found right here on CurseForge:

  • Create: A super-fun mod that's centered around automation & engineering. Steam trains, assembly lines, iron and gold generation, storage sorters, and more await!
  • Tinkers Construct*: You ever wish that there was something stronger than Netherite? Ever want to make something cooler than an enchanted tool? TInkers Construct has you covered! Build your smeltery, alloy your metals, and craft your tool pieces into something truly unique!
  • Quark: A mod that speaks for itself, and one that is undoubtedly greater than the sum of its parts, Quark seeks to improve your Minecraft experience through a number of small changes, tweaks, and additions. You know it, you love it!
  • Cobblemon**: A brand-new Pokémon adventure, now in Minecraft! Catch your favorite Pokémon, battle and trade with your rivals, and keep an eye out for those shinies!
  • Simple Voice Chat: Yes! You read that right — proximity voice chat, localized in your client without the need for Mumble or Discord! Along with Sound Physics Remastered, this will make the gameplay experience a lot more immersive. It's like they're really there! (Because, like, they are.)
  • Biomes O' Plenty*: Custom world generation, featuring all-new biomes, flora, wood types, building blocks, and more!
  • Terralith**: Yet another world gen mod, with even more biomes and the such!
  • Tectonic: What better way to smooth over all the world gen mods than with Tectonic? Boasting higher highs and lower lows, terrain generation has never looked so good!
  • YUNG's Better Series: Needing no introduction, YUNG's Better Dungeons, Mineshafts, Strongholds, etc, are almost mandatory in any modded playthrough from what I hear.
  • End Remastered: Now, lighting the End Portal requires twelve unique Eyes of Ender that can be found in all those vanilla structures you usually ignore, encouraging exploration where you might otherwise not.
  • Corpse*: You know what sucks about dying? Losing all your stuff to despawn timers! This mod seeks to end that. Upon death, your corpse will remain on the ground indefinitely, with all of your belongings in its inventory.
  • When Dungeons Arise: Custom world structures, ranging from small campsites and monuments to towering forts and massive palaces! Beware, all ye who enter: with fantastic loot comes challenging foes!
  • Lootr: Now, all world-generated chests will generate a unique inventory per-player. So, if you come across a dungeon that's already been run through, fear not! There's plenty more loot to go around, friend.
  • Alex's Mobs*: Adds 89 new animals and mobs to the world, some that exist in our world, and others that are purely fictional! All players will spawn with an encyclopedia that they may consult if they encounter an unfamiliar creature in the wild.
  • Aquaculture 2**: Overhauls the fishing system, adding new rods, bait and tackle, and over 30 new kinds of fish that may spawn depending on the biome.
  • Occultism**: An all-new system of magic and summoning rituals, requiring devotion and understanding of the occult to truly grasp its utility. Those who take the time to master Occultism can summon familiars, create powerful enchantments, enlist demons to auto-mine for you, and more!
  • Tarot Cards**: Adds collectible, one-of-a-kind tarot cards that can be found in loot tables. Equipping them gives the current owner incredible powers!
  • Callable Horses**: Allows you to summon a personal horse to your coordinates.
  • Mighty Mail**: Introduces a mail delivery system!
  • Goblin Traders: These neutral mobs, similar in function to Wandering Traders, will spawn in caves and the Nether to sell you many wares, if you have coin.
  • Serene Seasons**: As the name implies, this mod brings seasons to the server! Grass and foliage will change over time, affecting crop growth and weather patterns as well.
  • Reliquary**: Adds various magical items and blocks to enhance the player's experience, as well as an expanded potion system.
  • Farmer's Delight / Builder's Delight: Adds all-new building blocks and variants, furniture, cooking recipes, food types, and farming tools.
  • Sophisticated Backpacks: Upgradeable backpacks that offer progressively larger inventories for extra storage, along with a plethora of upgrades for your convenience!
  •

...as well as multiple audio/visual overhauls, such as Presence FootstepsAuditory, Effective**, Dynamic Surroundings, and Ambient Sounds!
