SimplyBetter

Keep the game feeling like Minecraft — just better.

A big Fabric pack for 1.26.1/1.26.2 built around one idea: no new dimensions, no tech trees, no progression systems bolted on. Just mobs that move like they're alive, terrain that doesn't feel copy-pasted, shaders if you want them, and a couple hundred small details that add up to a world that feels a lot more finished than vanilla — without losing what vanilla actually is.

PERFORMANCE

Sodium, Lithium, FerriteCore, Entity Culling, ImmediatelyFast, and Dynamic FPS do the unglamorous work of keeping this thing running smoothly. A pack this size only works if it doesn't tank your frame rate, so this got just as much attention as everything visual.

MOBS AND ANIMATION

The heart of the pack. The full Fresh Animations line — creepers, spiders, horses, quivers, players, all of it — plus Not Enough Animations and a batch of smaller mob overhauls, so nothing on screen moves like a stiff vanilla puppet anymore. Spawn behavior gets touched up too: giants, cave spiders, charged creepers, and a few others now show up under conditions that actually make sense.

TERRAIN AND EXPLORATION

TerralithandTerratonic rework overworld generation; Incendium and Amplified Nether do the same for the Nether. The full YUNG's structure lineup — dungeons, mineshafts, strongholds, monuments, fortresses — replaces the vanilla versions with ones actually worth exploring, and Dungeons and Taverns plus Katters Structures add more handmade-feeling builds on top.

SHADERS

Iris comes bundled with a handful of shaderpacks — Complementary, BSL, Bliss, Solas, Photon — so you can pick one straight from the in-game menu instead of hunting them down. Only run one at a time, obviously.

GETTING AROUND

Big generation means big worlds, so this pack leans hard into not getting lost in them. Xaero's Minimap puts a live map right in the corner of your screen, and Xaero's World Map zooms out to the full picture whenever you need to plan a route. Immersive Minimaps folds that minimap right into the world instead of a flat HUD overlay, so it feels like part of the game rather than a plugin bolted on top. On top of that, Locator Border keeps you aware of the world border at a glance, and Spyglass Astronomy and Spyglass Improvements turn the spyglass into an actual tool for reading the sky, not just a zoom button. Between all of it, you'll always know where you are, where you're headed, and what's above you.

SOUND AND AMBIENCE

Sound Physics Remastered makes audio actually respond to the space you're in — caves echo, rooms muffle, water sounds different underwater. Presence Footsteps swaps the flat vanilla footstep sound for something that reacts to the surface you're walking on, and Cool Rain and a handful of weather-focused mods make storms feel like something happening around you instead of a texture change.

DETAIL AND IMMERSION

The small stuff that adds up fast. 3D crops, 3D potions, and 3D ore blocks replace flat vanilla textures with actual geometry. The Fresh series covers food, flowers, paintings, and music discs so even decorative blocks feel deliberate. Dynamic lighting means torches and glowing items actually light up the world around you as you carry them, instead of only lighting up once placed.

UTILITY AND QUALITY OF LIFE

Jade and AppleSkin put useful information right where you're looking instead of making you dig through menus, and Detail Armor Bar does the same for your gear. Mouse Tweaks and Inventory Profiles Next cut down on inventory busywork. For anyone building or planning ahead, Litematica handles schematics and Chunky pre-generates terrain so you're not waiting on world gen mid-playthrough.

COSMETICS AND CHARACTER

Capes, cosmetic armor overlays, and elytra trims and contrails let you make your character look like yours without touching gameplay. SkinCraft and Trinkets round out the customization options if you want to go further.

PLAYING WITH FRIENDS

Simple Voice Chat adds proximity voice chat straight into the game, and Emotecraft gives you actual emotes to use with people. Small additions, but they change how a shared world feels a lot more than you'd expect.

CREDIT WHERE IT'S DUE

Every mod here is someone else's work. This pack is just a curation and a config, not original content — all credit to the individual authors of everything listed.
