Notice (July 30, 2023): There have been reports of malicious jars.  I downloaded a fresh copy of the pack today and ran both detection tools provided by the CurseForge team here:

I also ran an additional malware scan and the pack does not appear to be affected at this time.

We all have that one friend that has somehow managed to make it to this point without trying modded Minecraft.  This pack is for them.

Mods were selected based on whether a player could figure most things out using only JEI and knowledge of vanilla Minecraft.  There are no quests for now.

There's plenty of tech to dip your feet into with Ender IO, Thermal Dynamics, Thermal Expansion, Railcraft etc.  Easily get automation up and running with Industrial Foregoing.  ProjectE was chosen for the magic side of things because of it's straightforward nature using JEI for most things.  Most likely, a few more magic mods will be added in a future release.

FAQ

Q: Why didn't you put X mod in the pack?  I won't play any pack without it.

A: This pack isn't for you.  Tell your friends who only play vanilla about it, maybe show them the ropes.

Q: Mod X is really good and fits your theme, will you add it?

A: Leave a comment here or Tweet at me @CyberneticDruid and I'll consider it.  No promises.

Q: You said it was lightweight, why is it running crappy for me?

A: Go to options and crank everything down.  For me setting Mipmap levels to OFF has the highest impact.  You could also turn down the Render Distance, etc.  You can also go into the Twitch launcher settings > Minecraft > Java and increase the Java allocated memory.
