Description

Buildcraft, Project E, Railcraft, Red Power and others return!!

What is TCMC?

TCMC is a modpack designed around bringing Tekkit Classic for release 1.2.5 into 1.21.1 neoforge in a way that feels like an update or expansion while keeping things minimalist and not overly expansive. The modlist was inspired by mods featured in the original pack alongside mods that are the closest equivalent to their TC counterparts (Tech Reborn to replace IC2, etc.), in addition to mods which backport later features (Happy Ghast, spears, etc.) and addons (Project Extended, etc).

Alterations
To fit modern modpack tastes, progression has been slightly altered:

  • Firstly, to balance Project E, "Covalence Loss" in its config was changed to 0.5. This makes it so burning an item returns only half its EMC value but costs the full value to take out. This ensures that players don't just spam turning one item into another, or horde all of their unwanted items to gain EMC. Now the choice of whether to burn an item or pull an item out will have to be more well thought out and tactical. Everything has a cost!

  • Secondly, the Quarry's crafting recipe has been altered to require a Netherite Pickaxe in place of the Diamond one in its original recipe. This was done to gate the use of the block until you had ventured into the Nether and interacted with newer elements of the game such as Ancient Debris and Bastions.

  • Thirdly, Project Es Dark Matter and Red Matter have had altered recipes to make them more difficult to obtain. To craft Dark Matter, players must use a piece of UU-Matter from Tech Reborn in place of one of the Aeternalis Fuels in order to craft it. To craft Red Matter, players must obtain two Witherite ingots from the Cataclysm Mod in place of two of the Aeternalis Fuels. These were done to gate some of the more over-powered items behind the progression of other mods so that you don't instantly cheese the pack with Project E gear. Additionally the Repair Talisman's recipe has also been gated behind Red Matter.

As you just read, I had mentioned Cataclysm gear. To make the pack more interesting, I have included a HEAVILY stripped down version of Cataclysm featuring ONLY the Harbinger acting as a final boss of sorts and no other mobs (besides the ones that appear within the Ancient Factory structure), bosses and structures. The reasoning being is that with all your Dark Matter and Nano/Quantum gear, you really don't have much left to challenge you, that's where the Harbinger comes in and its defeat will help you unlock the end-game materials of Project E. This allows you to create post-Red matter materials so you can create your ultimate goal: The Final Star!

The reasoning for the selection of the Harbinger specifically is that 1. it fits the tech theme, 2. Having the other bosses might muddy up the packs theming and ruin the minimalist style i'm hoping to achieve, and 3. Its challenging.

Known Issues
Tech Reborn (the replacement mod for IC2) is a Fabric mod running on neoforge via Sinytra Connector. while there hasn't been any crashing on my end, there are some issues with TR machines connecting to Buildcraft pipes. You can work around this issue by using a buffer (chest, barrel) between machines and pipes. I know this is a little clunky, but this is the only work-around i find rn. The mod Industrial Recrafted is an up and coming mod that may replace TR in this pack, however It is not fully fleshed-out yet so TR will stay for now.

Conquer the world with nostalgic tech or build or an alchemical empire rivaled by none in Tekkit Classic for Modern Crafters!
