Description
The Everything 80% Better Pack revitalizes core aspects of Minecraft while maintaining the vanilla game progression experience. To provide an experience that's welcoming to those unfamiliar with the modding scene, we've broken down the game into four key areas of progression: exploration, technology, equipment, and building.
We've done our best to balance the mods in each of these categories, giving players multiple ways to progress, but preventing any one category from becoming overwhelming.
EXPLORATION:
An important part of Minecraft is getting to explore the infinite world around you, and we've included many features to help revitalize that exploration spirit. Discover remixed versions of classic Minecraft structures with Repurposed Structures, visit underground villages with Stoneholm, and battle your way through underground labyrinths with Dungeon Crawl and YUNG's Better Dungeons/Mineshafts. If you die, don’t worry about permanently losing your gear – the Gravestones mod preserves your items within a simple tombstone at the site of your death. The new 1.18 mountains and Terraforged terrain are often vast and difficult to traverse, so Simple Planes, Better Boats, Advanced Hook Launchers, and Waystones will be an essential part of the exploration experience. Keep track of where you've traveled using Xaero's World and Minimap.
TECHNOLOGY:
We have provided two main avenues of technological progression in this modpack, depending on whether one wishes to pursue a mechanical or magical route to power. The incredible Create mod allows players to construct a vast variety of complex machinery that visually does what it's supposed to, from building windmills and harvesting stations to elevators and mining drills. The Ars Noveau mod lets players craft custom spells and automate magical servants, leading to intricate and powerful magical abilities.
EQUIPMENT:
Equipment progression in vanilla Minecraft has always been fairly linear - wood to stone to iron to diamond to netherite - and we sought to add some diversity to the options available. The Tetra mod solves this issue - tools are now far more variable and allow for a near-infinite level of customization. We've also introduced the Epic Knights mod, allowing players to equip stylish yet powerful medieval armor and weaponry, and the Artifacts mod, which lets players discover equippable curios scattered throughout the world. Carry it all around with the Backpacked mod, and once you're back home, use your Simple Storage Network to put all your items safely away.
BUILDING:
Minecraft already has quite a lot of blocks, so to dodge the issue of the seemingly endless block-palette that many large modpacks encounter, we've included just a few vanilla-aesthetic-friendly mods to help spruce up your builds. The Supplementaries mod adds several new props and items, such as a globe and candelabra, that are primarily used for decoration. Create Deco adds some Create-inspired blocks and items to the game, and Armor Poser lets you style your stands however you want.
QUALITY OF LIFE:
We’ve included dozens of other smaller mods to address minor gameplay issues, like Just Enough Items, The One Probe, and FastSuite, but none of them fundamentally alter gameplay progression, so you can still experience the Minecraft you know and love.
KEY MODLIST (you should probably learn to use at least a couple of these):
Create: Lets you build complex and incredibly cool machines. Most blocks from the mod have built-in tutorials accessed by hovering over them in your inventory and holding "w".
Tetra: Tool upgrade system similar to Tinker's Construct. Craft a wooden hammer, right click a crafting table with it, and get to work. You'll be given a holosphere with clues on how to proceed.
Ars Noveau: When you spawn into a new world, you're given an old notebook containing information on how to proceed in the magic system, Follow the in-game tutorial to understand how to use it.
SOME THINGS TO KNOW:
Most of the modded controls can be viewed under Keybinding in the Controls part of the menu, but here's a few important ones:
Xaero's Minimap settings can be accessed with "u", allowing you to move it around the screen
Xaero's Worldmap seems to conflict with something, so despite it saying that it opens with m, you might have to rebind it to "Shift+m" or something
Simple Voice Chat is included in this modpack
