Description
The New Nifty is a series of modpacks originally made to play with my brother. This iteration is aimed at Minecraft version 1.20.1.
New to this iteration:
-Vivecraft inclusion: this modpack is designed to be played both in VR and out of it, including the ability for VR players and non-VR players to play together on a server.
-A little more restraint: some effort was made to trim the modlist down from a complete kitchen sink to something a little more reasonable. Still plenty of options to play with, but a little less overlapping (a little)
-More customization: a datapack and a few KubeJS scripts to adjust spawn rates, unify ores, and add some conveniences have been made
The New Nifty is a sandbox pack, with plenty of options for building and a laid-back atmosphere.
Featured Mods:
Tech mods including:
-Thermal Expansion
-Mekanism
-Create
Magic mods including:
-Botania
-Ars Nouveau
Building and Decoration mods including:
-MrCrayfish’s Furniture
-Architects Palette
-Macaw’s suite of building additions
Biomes provided by Terralith, Mystic’s Biomes, and Regions Unexplored.
A full suite of convenience mods and functions, including Journeymap, EMI (on top of JEI), Apathy, Trample Stopper, and more.
And that’s just scratching the surface! There is so much to explore, get out there and try it!
Things to know:
-Trample Mechanics are turned off - no more making sure no one jumps on your farms!
-Mobs will only attack if you’ve attacked them (bosses excepted), so you can choose when and where you fight at your leisure
-Horse, donkey, and mule breeding has been improved (thanks to the Realistic Horse Genetics mod), and horses and donkeys can now be bred using hay bales, in addition to golden carrots/apples
-Wool and cobwebs can be crafted directly into string, but you’ll get more string if you craft them together with shears (don’t worry - you won’t lose your shears, they’ll just get used a tad)
-Veinmining is set to shift (same as sneak)
Known issues:
-Better Combat weapons (L2 Weaponry, Simply Swords) unfortunately do not work properly in VR - they will behave like regular swords
-This pack was developed and tested using 12 gigabytes of RAM assigned. That is more than is needed outside of VR, but I wouldn’t recommend under 6-8 GB or you may have trouble loading this pack. VR is recommended to use the full 12, as it experiences performance issues on 8 GB of RAM.
-EMI takes a bit to load when entering a new world
-Mystic's Biomes causes a crash on dedicated servers - disable it if you intend to play using one. This will be fixed in an upcoming hotfix.
-The Packet Fixer mod is required to fix issues connecting to dedicated servers. The mod will be included in an upcoming hotfix.
Future plans:
-Balancing various loot chests
-Possible further balancing of oregen, particularly modded ores
-EnderIO and Oh the Biomes You’ll Go may be added if they update to the appropriate version/reach a stable release
