Description

Content update 2.5.1 is here!

OptiFine is required in order to play.

You need to download OptiFine manually as CurseForge packs can't include it by default.

A minimum of 8 GB of RAM is recommended for clients and servers for the best performance

It's been hundreds years since the world was struck by an epochal calamity in which 80% of the Earth's population suddenly disappeared in a single night amongst a thick veil of darkness. Those who were left behind began to dub this event the "Nightfall". As modern society collapsed, a mysterious plague began to take hold upon the survivors and wildlife, transforming those afflicted into strange nocturnal abominations.

You awaken in an unknown location with no knowledge of who you were. The only thing you do know is your mysterious ability to reawaken after death. Assess your surroundings and adapt to your environment. Do whatever it takes to survive and perhaps even use your power to explore the mysteries of the Nightfall...

Why "The Nightfall"?: Do you remember when you first booted up Minecraft as a kid? You remember that feeling of wonder and joy when you spawned into your first world and started exploring the peaceful blocky landscapes? You remember that feeling of dread when the sun falls and your first shelter gets overrun with hostile mobs? You remember that feeling when you gaze into a dark cave and your mind rushes to wonder what's in there, but also fear what lies beyond the pitch black darkness? The Nightfall aims to rekindle those feelings and not only bring back that sense of mystery and excitement, but also bring back that psychological fear and dread that's missing from the recent versions of Minecraft.

Survive Together: The Nightfall was built with Multiplayer in mind. While playing in Singleplayer will still be just as much of an intrigue and will provide a unique sense of isolation, facing off against the night with a group of friends or a sprawling server and sharing that dread together is a major component to the Nightfall, especially with ModularVoiceChat, which implements in game proximity voice chat.

Enticing Exploration

Long after the collapse of society, nature has had plenty of time to heal itself. These lands are brimming with beautiful landscapes and vibrant wildlife. With an extended Day/Night cycle, players are encouraged to explore the world in search of supplies and landmarks. From dungeons, temples, decrepit fortresses, to small human villages and even overgrown urban remains, there's lots to discover in this forgotten world.

Unpredictable Nights

During the Nightfall, there is no breathing room. You will not be able to sleep the night away. Once the sun falls, the monsters of the Nightfall will be out in full force. Developing an effective defensive strategy is key to nighttime survival. That's not the only thing you should be worrying about, however. The Night is an ever evolving entity that will consume everything in its wake as it grows in power (Scape and Run: Parasites). Developing an effective defensive strategy as well as keeping up with the Night's offenses will be key to your survival.

Expanded Crafting

A revamped crafting system which lets you further experiment with the loot you acquired. With Immersive Engineering, you can construct factories and refineries to assist in resource gathering as well as build intricate defense mechanisms such as automatic turrets and even artillery pieces. Create a variety of dishes with an expanded selection of food items, or expand your arsenal with Tetra, Spartan Weaponry, and the variety of unique firearms from Techguns.

Custom Soundtrack

The Nightfall boasts a uniquely curated soundtrack containing over 50 tracks, all hand picked from various different games and artists, specifically implemented based on the setting and mood.

Every single track that you'll hear in this modpack are credited to the following OST's:

-Raising The Bar: Redux, composed by the RTBR Team (This makes up a vast majority of this pack's tracklist, and for good reason.)

-Darkwood, composed by Artur Kordas

-Cry of Fear, Composed by Andreas Rönnberg

-Black Mesa, composed by Joel Nielsen

-Operation Black Mesa, composed by Tripmine Studios

-Carrion, by Cris Velasco

-Yume Nikki: Dream Diary, composed by an artist whom I can't seem to find the name of. Please let me know if you do find them so I can credit them here.

-A few tracks by Atra Aeterna, you can find him on YouTube, Spotify, or Soundcloud

Twisted Atmosphere

You will begin to question your sanity, as the line between reality and nightmarish fantasies begin to blur...
