I always knew that Minecraft was using the same CPU Thread for logic and rendering but never realized what this meant for the game, hence why I write this short excerpt. Put simply, you cannot run any kind of serious modded Minecraft in VR because the CPU Frametime will be higher than the GPU Frametime which severely limits the performance. Very light modpacks (~20 or less) might work in VR but anything higher causes issues. With this in mind, I can't call this modpack "VR-Optimized" anymore. It's still a fun experience and you might be able to have it run smoothly with a highly overclocked Intel CPU (9th gen or newer).
Introduction
This modpack is primarily aimed at VR-Users that are looking for a fun Minecraft experience but that are, at the same time, bored of vanilla Minecraft. It comes with custom binds for easy use with VR-Controllers and has all of the HUD Elements put to the bottom of the screen so they don't obstruct your vision. For use with VR-Headsets, you have to install Vivecraft and preferably also the vanilla Minecraft launcher, for easier access.
Features
- Tech oriented (EnderIO, Thermal, Industrial Forgoing, AE2)
- Easy automation of most resources with Cows!
- Comes pre-configured for easy use with Vivecraft
- Does NOT have custom quests (maybe at a later point...)
Installation Instructions
You have to have installed vanilla Minecraft for better ease of use...
- Download Modpack
- Download Vivecraft from here https://github.com/jrbudda/Vivecraft_112/releases
- Run Installer and select for modpack, the root folder of "The Oasis Project"
- After successful installation, you should see a new Profile in you vanilla Minecraft installation
- !Important! You have to use the vanilla Minecraft Launcher to start Vivecraft if you used it to install Vivecraft!
Vision
I want to make this Mod-Pack light and fun to play, so I'll try not to go too crazy with all of the awesome mods that are available to us ;D
Since its inception, I've gotten myself a VR-Headset and this project, while still being aimed at light and fun, is now being developed into a VR-Optimized Modpack. This shouldn't affect regular players too much but certainly can...
Disclaimer
Yes, the name is based on the book/movie "Ready Player One". I thought it was a fitting name for a VR-Optimized Modpack :D
