Description

What are The Winterlands?

The Winterlands features worlds covered by a perpetual winterstorm, composed only of biomes with snowy forests, glaciers, and jagged ice formations.

This modpack is part of the  Biome Palettes  series, a collection designed to change the atmosphere of Minecraft through a defined aesthetic and thematic "palette" of biomes. Using the  Biome Replacer  mod, this pack takes hundreds of biomes from popular world-gen mods and uses only a careful selection of them to create a coherent and immersive world.

The pack is ideal for temperature survival challenges, winter apocalypse worlds, or christmas themed playthroughs. I don't want to add a whole ton of mods to the pack and it's intentionally lightweight so anyone can integrate any other mods they'd consider fitting to their adventure. Still I'll probably make an alternate version with my preferred and more curated set of mods.

This modpack is meant to be played with my Resourcepack:

Winter Waters & Snowy Skies

Biome Palette for The Winterlands

The inspiration for this pack are the classic 'Winter Apocalypse' survival challenges, reimagined to create a world that consists of only cold biomes coming from several popular worldgen mods. The landscape consists of mainly snow-covered forests, broken up by desolate ice wastelands.

Many of the biomes have deep powder snow that can easily trap you.
➤ Underground you will only find frosted cave biomes from Yung's Cave Biomes.
➤ Keep an eye out for the ice on frozen rivers and oceans, you might find resources buried within the ice.

The following are the worldgen mods used in the pack and below the respective biomes that have been selected to create the world.

Minecraft (Vanilla)

  • Deep Frozen Ocean
  • Frozen Ocean
  • Frozen Peaks
  • Ice Spikes
  • Jagged Peaks
  • Snowy Beach

Biomes O' Plenty

  • Cold Desert
  • Muskeg
  • Snowblossom Grove
  • Snowy Coniferous Forest

Oh The Biomes You'll Go

  • Frosted Taiga
  • Howling Peaks
  • Shattered Glacier

Regions Unexplored

  • Cold Deciduous Forest
  • Frozen Pine Taiga
  • Icy Heights
  • Spires

William Wythers' Expanded Ecosphere

  • Deep Icy Ocean
  • Deep Snowy Taiga
  • Frozen Island
  • Glacial Cliffs
  • Ice Cap
  • Icy Crags
  • Icy Ocean
  • Icy Shore

YUNG's Cave Biomes

  • Frosted Caves

Any suggestion, feedback or new ideas are welcomed. There are almost 500 biomes in total so it's entirely possible I've missed some or replaced cave or nether biomes I shouldn't have, If you stumble upon a biome that feels out of place, please let me know.

Playing Online

If you want to play on a server, you must make sure the biome_replacer.properties as well as the other files inside the config folder are the same as in the modpack.

And don't forget to delete the client-side mods, currently they are:

  • Polytone
  • Fog Looks Good Now
  • Better Biome Reblend
  • Embeddium
  • Oculus
  • Entity Culling
  • Just Enough Items
