Here we have Farmer's Delight and a bunch of other mods that adds new crops, new tree types as well as HUNDREDS of new food types with the new ingredients that could be found all over the world. Talking about the world Biomes O' Plenty makes it so the new materials can help you expand upon your building needs.
Want to play on peaceful but still want to play with hunger? Well you still CAN with harder peaceful making it possible for those who just want to farm and still deal with hunger. All of these extra mods combined create an experience that feels like vanilla without the fear of fighting constantly.
