Description

Where The Wind Shall Carry you is a minecraft 1.12.2 Modpack focused around improved survival and combat mechanics while exploring an overworld full of both improved and upgraded standard mobs and newer tougher mobs and structures.

Survival and Combat

Spawning with a selection of basic tools and other equipment it's time to set out as you survive against not just hunger, but other elements such as Thirst, temperature and seasons thanks to mods such as Tough as nails and Serene Seasons. Configurations and other mechanics let you push yourself further with good preparation such as craftable armor underwears to change the warming or cooling values of your equipment, blocks which provide ambient heating and cooling or foods that can help in those situations.

Combat is also changed with Taoism bringing the potential for dualwielding, parrying and posture which can be whittled away to cause a devastating knockdown stagger against any mob or yourself! Defending yourself is more than just putting on some powerful armor and tanking everything while swinging an overpowered sword!

Health regeneration is different and restores itself rapidly after a period of not taking damage. However it's slower when hunger is lower, stopping outright when hunger is almost empty. Small amounts of upgradeable absorption hearts can also alleviate minor damage from accidents without them registering on your health. Having low hunger or health also negatively impacts your regeneration rates and movement and mining speeds so stay healthy or bring healing and other supplies!

Health can be improved by seeking out and eating lots of different foods from around the world or crafting heart containers from mobs.

You're also only mortal. After a period of time you'll need sleep due to the Somnia mod! If you're not tired you won't be able to sleep at all but if you keep your fatigue low you'll benefit from haste or speed, but stay up far too terribly long and you might end up unable to tell your ass from your elbow as you stumble around dizzily with your inventory scrambled and controls reversed. :P

(protip: shift rightclick a bed while tired to sleep vanilla style and not simulate the world around you while sleeping. this can be useful when you're on a server with friends and the simulation rate can't go much faster than 1-1.4 and you'd rather not wait. :V)

Can you survive as a nomad? Capsules if you can make them provide mobile structures and moving of larger inventories while you explore! Just don't lose it all in one go! Use backpacks, endersacks, carry on and other mechanics to lug around large amounts of items while on the run.

In the unfortunate case of death you leave a tombstone and your back worn backpack drops nearby thanks to corail tombstones, so just follow the energy of the key and pick yourself up. Be careful though, repeated death will reduce your max HP making it harder to survive if you make a bad habit of becoming dead. :P

Lots to see

Meet the locals... or raid them! Theres lots of structures and humanoid enemies (or allies!) from Ancient Warfare. Just watch out for spawners, large underground roguelike dungeons and magical shrines with electroblob wizardry artifacts guarded by evil wizards.

Take on simple block and item bounties from bounty boards to gain coins to trade with the ancient warfare npcs.

Meanwhile Traverse and Quark realistic terrain gen provides expanded overworld terrain to explore across while underground Yungs better caves and better mineshafts improve caves, and quark provides mini-biomes and other features down there while down in the Deep in the deepdark the twisting and interconnecting cave labyrinths of worleys caves will keep you on your toes in your delve for riches.

As you explore out further (few thousand blocks) you'll also begin running into Ice and Fire's mythical creatures etc.

Scavenge against the odds

Made with the idea that it should be playable even in custom maps if you would like to attempt such an undertaking it includes mods that can help on that front:

Such as custom recipes to create basic resources from energy in cursed hearts dropped by powerful infernal or champion foes.

Ex Nihilo to scavenge skyblock style with crooks, hammers and sieves or lootbags to find artifacts and various other dungeon loot related items while fighting and exploring.

If you need some nature in your life, Harvestcraft's market or the market from farming for blockheads can sell you seeds and saplings on the cheap from around the world. Just don't antagonize the salesmen...

Lite Story based quests

Comes with an optional quest book which just provides some reading about cool items and other mechanics to consider for bonus experience to put towards enchanting or skill books while also having the story of a (fictional) famous adventurer from my Minecraft Modpack Universe to discover.

Want to see some of my other works? My previous pack Timeless Technician is still available for a more technology and base defense related hardcore experience if you're interested. Otherwise, go on, go where the wind takes you and have fun. :)
