Yet Another Vanilla+ (YAV+)
"Oh, it's just another Vanilla+ modpack… wow… so original…" yeah yeah, I know. But hold up before you scroll.
YAV+ isn't just "Vanilla with a few random mods." This is a carefully curated Vanilla+ experience made to enhance Minecraft without ruining its original vibe.
🆕 v1.0.2 — The Big Update
This isn't just a patch, it's basically a full rebuild. YAV+ jumped from Minecraft 1.21.5 to 1.21.11, which meant a huge chunk of the old modlist had to be dropped and replaced. Along the way, I also changed the whole approach to visuals — more on that below.
This modpack focuses on:
- ✅ Cleaner, fresher visuals (still feels 100% Minecraft)
- ✅ More lively animations (mobs, items, small world details)
- ✅ More immersive sound
- ✅ Addictive little details (3D items, particles, trims, etc.)
- ✅ Still lightweight & perfect for survival worlds
No weird mechanics. No overcomplicated systems. No "this doesn't feel like Minecraft anymore" moments. Just… Minecraft, but prettier, smoother, and more alive. ✨
🚫✨ No Shaders? No Problem.
Starting v1.0.2, Iris Shaders and every shaderpack have been removed from the default setup. Not because I gave up on making the game pretty, but because I found a better way to do it.
Instead of one heavy shaderpack doing everything (and killing your FPS in the process), YAV+ now uses a handful of small, focused mods that each recreate one specific piece of the shader look:
- 🌫️ Atmospherics — dynamic fog, sky, and cloud shifts
- ✨ Shine — bloom & colored lighting, no shader needed
- ☀️ Sunbathing — real sun & moon godrays
- 🌊 Big Water — bigger, less repetitive water & lava textures
- 🍃 Windy & Subtle Effects — ambient wind particles + dozens of tiny environmental touches
- 🌧️ Particle Rain & CoolRain — weather that actually looks and sounds real
Put together, it gives you that "wait, are you using a shader?" look while still running comfortably on Sodium, even on low-end hardware. If you still want a real shaderpack on top, you absolutely can, just add it yourself.
🎯 Inspiration
This modpack is inspired by several popular Vanilla+ packs such as Vanilla Perfected by DemonJoeTV and Fresh & Smooth by EnderPacks.
Because of that, you can consider YAV+ as a lite version of those packs — simpler, lighter, and focused on visual & QoL improvements only. I mean… this was made on a potato device, so it HAD to be light.
🔧 Recommended RAM Allocation
Since this is a Vanilla+ modpack (not a 300-mod monster), the requirements are pretty friendly:
- 🧠 Recommended: 4 – 6 GB RAM
- 🧠 Optimal / Safest: 6 – 8 GB RAM
- 🧠 Minimum: 3 – 4 GB RAM
As of v1.0.2, no shader is bundled by default, so most people will be fine in the 4–6 GB range. Adding your own shaderpack on top?
- ➜ Go for 8 GB for a smoother experience.
📌 Note
This is actually my personal modpack and my first modpack that I post, but I wanted to share my experience with you all. Feel free to add any other mods/resource pack into this modpack and make it your own. But if your game crashes… you're on your own, don't blame me for that :P
In the gallery, I'm using the Stay True texture pack from CurseForge. (bug warning) You can add it yourself too or use any texture pack you prefer!
