Description

Zombie Hoardz - Tower Defense

Hold the Pedestal. The horde wants it, not you.

This pack is in beta. It's playable from the first wave onward, but I'm still tuning the balance, so waves, loot and recipes may change between updates. Some changes only take full effect in a new world. I want to hear how your runs go: see "Tell me how it went" below.

A zombie tower defense pack for Forge 1.20.1. You start in a walled fort in a ruined wasteland. In its courtyard stands the Pedestal, the only thing the horde wants: every wave mob walks straight for it, not for you. Keep it standing.

How a run works

  • You call the waves. Sound the horn when you're ready. After each clear a timer starts, and when it runs out the next wave comes anyway, so use the gap to repair, restock and build.
  • Eight written waves, then no ceiling. The first eight waves are hand-built. After that the hordes keep growing, and every tenth wave brings something worse.
  • Protect the Pedestal. It has 300 health and a bar you can see from the walls. If it falls, the run is over.

Defenses that grow with you

  • Early: wooden stakes, stake walls, spike traps, and a Lure Block that pulls the horde where you want it.
  • SecurityCraft: mines, claymores, Sentries, I.M.S. and electrified fences.
  • Powered: Tesla Coils, Gun Turrets and Chemthrower Turrets from Immersive Engineering, run on a Flux Networks grid.
  • Heavy: grenade and rocket turrets from Open Modular Turrets.
  • Guns: TaCZ firearms for when the horde gets past the walls.

Holding the Pedestal mid-wave

Past the border

  • The amulet and the border. Craft the amulet for regeneration and damage resistance. While you carry it, the world border is a wall. Leave it on the Pedestal to head out into the ruined towns, cities and towers past the line, where loot stashes sit behind monster spawners. The further out, the better the haul.
  • Supply drops. After every fifth wave a plane flies over and drops a crate. Look up, then follow the beam to where it lands.

Also in the pack

  • A quest book that teaches as you go, in four acts that open as you survive longer, plus bounties and optional field tests.
  • Loot bags from elite mobs, and loot stashes that are personal to each player.
  • Your gear stays on your corpse when you die. Also waystones, backpacks and Refined Storage.
  • Co-op: play with friends on a server or over LAN.

Your feedback decides what gets fixed and tuned next. Leave a comment on this page, especially about:

  • How far you got: the wave you reached, what ended the run, and how many of you were playing.
  • Balance: waves that felt unfair or too easy, defenses that were useless or too strong, loot you never found or had far too much of.
  • Bugs and crashes: the pack version and what you were doing. For a crash, upload the crash report or logs/latest.log to mclo.gs and put the link in your comment. (In the CurseForge app, click the three dots on the pack and choose Open Folder to find them.)
  • Ideas: defenses, guns or events you'd like to see.

Thanks for playing!

Requirements

  • Install through the CurseForge app. Allocate at least 6 GB of RAM.
  • Running a server? Each version on the Files tab has a server pack attached. It installs Forge for you on first start.

The pack is built on the work of many mod authors; see the Relations tab for the full list. It also includes Tower Defense Tweaks, a small mod made for this pack.
