Description

Advanced Combat System

(alpha)

This modification is designed to enhance and diversify combat in minecraft.

Works temporarily stopped (06.18.2021)

Unfortunately, I have to report that work on the mod has been suspended for a number of personal reasons, but I still have many ideas for modifying minecraft, so I'm really looking forward to the moment when I can continue working on this and other ideas.

Alpha

We test every added feature in the singleplayer and on a dedicated server to prevent critical errors leading to the crash of the game or server, but the possibility of errors at the moment is not excluded. Please report found bugs or unstable work. Also "Alpha" means that not all planned content has been added yet.

Main changes:

1. “Charging up” before hitting

In the standard minecraft system, all you need to do to hit the enemy is to press the button and wait until your strength recovers to hit again. This modification delegates this process onto the the player to encourage the player to keep track of the strength of the swing manually.

2. Modified hit system

Each tool now has its own "sweep of attack", which forms an impact area in the direction of the player's view.

3. Dashes

Dodge arrows, fireballs and other projectiles with dash mechanic

Features of changes:

1. More attributes to the god of attributes

Each tool now has an additional set of attributes: area of effect, range, amount of energy required to hit, rate of energy accumulation, combo timings, number of combo stages.

2. Learning timings

Each tool has its own timings, by learning them, you will be able to shorten the swing time and will be able to deliver more hits at the same time. Each tool has its own number of combo stages available.

3. Admit it, who dug with a sword?

Now you can not dig with a sword, but it has become much easier to cut through dense vegetation.

4. Battle mode

Due to the peculiarities of the new mechanics, it became more inconvenient to fight with tools (pickaxe, axe, etc.) in the hands, for simplicity, a "battle mode" was added in which the ability to dig is disabled, but the player can still place blocks, interact with the environment and use items.

Controrls:

(can be changed in control settings)

Dash: ctrl + a / ctrl + d

Toggle battle mode: b

GUI:

Battle mode indicator, sword - battle mode on, pickaxe - automatic mode

battle mode indicator

power indicator

combo indicator

combo passed indicator

How does the combat system work now?

First, player presses the left mouse button, after which the accumulation of force for the hit begins. When the required amount (marked with a red line on the strength bar) of power is reached, the player releases the left mouse button, hitting an entity in the affected area.

Compatibility with other mods (0.2.1 and newer)

In theory, the mod is compatible with all mods adding their own weapons and tools. However, of course, we were not able to test our mod with all other mods due to their number, so we ask you to report unstable work of the mod.

Plans for the future

(Is this the final stage of the mod?)

At the moment, we are doing: new attributes of items and their ordering, adjusting the balance, adding new mechanics related to the battle. It is planned to add new attributes to weapons, update the AI to be able to use new mechanics, add new variations of mobs. The system available at the moment already opens up great opportunities in the creation of various types of weapons with different characteristics.

If you have any ideas for improving the mod or changing the balance, please share them in the comments.
