About

Description

This is a fork of Applied Energistics 2 for the Forge 1.20.1 version as it has reached EOL and is no longer supported.

Why this Fork?

A couple reasons, here are some:

  • Addon disparity: A lot of the currently existing addons either have a some form of feature overlap, forcing you to install a lot of them to probably not even get all the features you desire.
  • Version abandonment: The upstream Forge 1.20.1 version has not seen meaningful changes in a long time as development focus has shifted to more modern versions, even tho forge 1.20.1 is currently still the version with the most modding activity out there.

Note for the developers under us:

  • Mixin mess: Yes you may argue that some of the features the fork adds/will add are doable with mixins, but at some point it just gets too much for a single addon to manage everything properly.

Changes from the original mod:

One of the main goals was to add a lot of new QoL features (i.e., forward port some features from AE2 NH/UEL you might miss), performance improvements, bug fixes, and improve the overall (addon) dev experience.

As example, here a few of the already present features:

  • Better math expression parsing: use letters (1k, 1m, 1g etc..), factorials, exponents, scientific notation, and more!
  • Upped some general limits so you can encode, request and craft more than ever!
  • Support for filtering the interface, storage bus, etc.. directly from your recipe manager.
  • Show a percentage of amounts used in the Craft Confirm Screen.
  • Some pattern QoL: New texture to differentiate all the types easily and better tooltips for them, with some new fancy colors and showing the icons of inputs/outputs in the tooltip directly.
  • You are able to manually pin anything in your terminal with 3 rows of pins(configurable), with the pins being persisted for whatever world or server you are in.
  • Ability to suspend and resum currently active crafting jobs so you can prioritize another
    Some dev stuff.
  • Screen JSON additions: If you're an addon developer and ever had to add a new widget or anything to an existing ae2 screen you know how painful it is to manage the layout with the json system. That has been fixed by allowing you to create "addition" json files for existing screens. More info on GitHub
  • Screen JSON layering: ever added a new resource pack but noticed some screens didn't open/would crash your game? This has been fixed by falling back to the default value from ae2 if the resource pack did not contain the new widget.
And with much more to come like the sticky, new processing patterns(😳) and some other much needed QoL!
