This mod allows shields to be enchanted with Thorns.
A shield with Thorns has 2 ways to damage the attacker.
The first is while blocking with the shield, where the Thorns chance and damage is higher (Table below). The player holding the shield will not get damaged. Durability consumption can be configured in the config file.
The second is when the player is only holding the shield without blocking and the attacker hits the hitbox of the shield. This way uses vanilla Thorns chance and damage (Table below). The player holding the shield will get damaged too. When Thorns activates 1 durability is consumed this way.
The second way also works in vanilla if you enchant a shield with Thorns using commands. This mod only adds the ability to enchant shields with Thorns in survival and Thorns functionality when blocking with the shield.
Damage chance and amount while blocking can be configured in the config file.
Thorns Damage Chance while Blocking:
| Thorns Level | Chance | Damage |
|---|---|---|
| Thorns I | 50% | 2 Damage (1 Heart) |
| Thorns II | 75% | 4 Damage (2 Hearts) |
| Thorns III | 100% | 6 Damage (3 Hearts) |
Passive Thorns Damage Chance (Held in hand):
| Thorns Level | Chance | Damage |
|---|---|---|
| Thorns I | 15% | 1-5 Damage (0.5-2.5 Hearts) |
| Thorns II | 30% | 1-5 Damage (0.5-2.5 Hearts) |
| Thorns III | 45% | 1-5 Damage (0.5-2.5 Hearts) |
Notes
- Support for Minecraft versions below 26.1 will be added soon.
- Support for Quilt, Forge and NeoForge will be added soon.
