Description

What is the mod about?

With this mod installed you can craft, discover and cast Magick Spells. The spell casting system is very unique so I've left instructions to the mod on this mod page. To get started you should find or craft some Spell Scrolls and a Wooden Staff. The spells have their recipe and chanting order RANDOMIZED in every world. You can also see a lot of additional info about a spell by looking it up in a Book of Spells. I highly recommend also installing JEI to see crafting recipes. To craft a spell you need parchment and specific runes that correspond to a spell.

How do I cast spells?

To cast spells you need to learn them first. Simply right-clicking while holding a Spell Scroll you've found or crafted teaches you the spell. In this mod you do not equip spells in a book or anything like it. You instead always have EVERY spell you've ever learnt available. You can see a spell's chanting order in a craftable Book of Spells or by hovering over a Scroll containing said spell in an inventory or if you have JEI installed you can see it there too. After you know at least one spell you need to have a Staff and press the Spell Wheel key (V by default) which will bring up a wheel with six different runes. Clicking on a rune will add it to a chanting bar at the bottom of your screen. After the bar is full, if you know a spell with that chant it will appear in the middle of your screen. After chanting the spell you can close the menu and you will have selected the spell. You can see your currently selected spell next to your Hotbar while holding a Staff. To cast the spell you simply need to press right-click (and hold it if the spell is a channel-type spell) and provided you have enough Mana the spell will be cast. Note that some spells require a target to take any effect. If a proper target is not found your spell will whiff (go on a one second cooldown) and no mana will be consumed. If the spell is not harmful and no target is found, you will target yourself.

What are Special Casting Items?

After gathering enough Arcane Dust you can use it to craft different magickal items. Special Casting Items are items that can hold a spell inside them. To bind a spell into a Special Casting Item hold a Staff in your hand and an empty Special Casting Item item in your other hand and right-click. You will cast the spell but instead of the effect taking place it will be bound onto the item. Right-clicking with a Special Casting Item will use the spell inside it in a different manner depending on the item.

- Spell Pearls are thrown and the effect of the spell is cast whenever and wherever it lands.

- Wands are a limited-use version of the spell that does not require mana to cast. (Currently disabled)

How do I get stronger?

In addition to finding and crafting better spells you can also craft some apparel to boost your magickal powers. Most of the armor and weapons in this mod can be dyed just like leather armor, they increase your maximum Mana, Mana Regeneration, and Spell Power. You can also enhance them with new enchantments to increase their effectiveness or gain completely new effects.

Note that this mod is still being developed so some things are subject to change. There might still be some bugs here and there so reporting them to the mod's GitHub page would be appreciated. This mod also requires ShadowizardLib to run.
