Description

Arcanum Perks

A perk system for Arcanum that TRANSFORMS how spells work.

Perks aren't boring mana-cost cuts or cooldown reductions — each perk changes what a spell does, giving it new, stronger behaviour. Every perk is a grimoire (book): using it once switches the perk ON for the player (and the book turns into its "used" look); using it again switches it OFF. The perk lives on the player — it survives death and doesn't depend on carrying the book, and any copy of the same book toggles the same perk.

The books are meant to be handed out as quest rewards (or grabbed from the creative tab) — they don't need to be found in the world. What matters is the perk, not the item.

Note: Arcanum Perks is designed for modpacks. The perk books intentionally do not drop or generate anywhere in the world — they're meant to be distributed by the pack itself (quest rewards, your own loot tables or recipes, etc.), or taken from the creative tab. This is by design, not a missing feature.

Most perks stack. Only perks that overwrite the same behaviour are mutually exclusive (for example Wingardium Slam and Leviosa Dark, where Dark takes priority).

Perks

Avada Kedavra

Chain Avada Kedavra — the killing curse leaps from the slain target to several nearby enemies, a chain that clears an area. Reach and jump count are configurable.

Inverted Avada Kedavra — flips the curse: it now kills the undead and spares the living. Composes with Chain (the chain then leaps only between undead).

Glacius

Glacius Entombment — instead of just chilling the target, it is turned into a block of ice: its AI is switched off, it's frozen in place, and a translucent ice entity encases it (the mob stays visible inside). When it thaws, the ice shatters with shards and a glass-break crack.

Shatter (Depulso / Reducto) — hitting a frozen target with Depulso or Reducto breaks the ice and the blow lands amplified, a burst of damage. (Automatic — no perk of its own.)

Wingardium Leviosa

Wingardium Slam — flings the target up, then at the apex slams it into the ground under enormous force for doubled fall damage.

Leviosa Dark — a 360° area effect: lifts every enemy around the target, then snaps all of their necks, killing the whole area. (Takes priority over Slam.)

Petrificus Totalus

Petrificus — turns the target to stone using Ice and Fire's stone statue (it keeps the creature's exact model — the Medusa look). The statue is immune to ordinary damage — only Depulso or Reducto shatter it, in a burst of stone shards. (Without Ice and Fire it falls back to a freeze-in-place.)

Bombarda Maxima — the "nuke" family

Each one swaps Bombarda Maxima's blast for a bomb, and the spell's range increases so the blast lands far from you. They are mutually exclusive.

Bombarda Nuke — a built-in colossal blast that carves everything down to bedrock (needs no other mod).

Bombarda Alex's Nuke — the real nuclear explosion from Alex's Caves (mushroom cloud, shockwave, radiation). Uses Alex's Caves' own size config.

Gamma / Neutron / Black Hole / Antimatter / Macro Black Hole — swap in the matching bomb from Alex's Caves Exemplified, Alex's Caves Enriched, and Terramity.

Protego Diabolica (with the Protego Diabolica mod)

Unbound Lash — cast Diabolica Lash without standing inside the circle.

Greater Circle — the Protego Diabolica circle is cast much larger.

Chain Diabolica Lash — the whip leaps from the struck target to nearby enemies, in a chain.

Compatibility

Arcanum (required).

Protego Diabolica, Ice and Fire, Alex's Caves (+ Enriched, Exemplified), Terramity — all optional. Each integration is auto-detected; if a mod isn't present, its perk simply changes nothing. The mod loads fine with or without them.

Config

config/arcanum_perks-common.toml — Chain Avada and Chain Lash reach/jumps, Glacius freeze time and shatter multiplier, Slam force, Leviosa Dark radius, nuke range and radius, Petrificus area damage, and more.
