Ars Magica 2 on 1.12.2

Unofficial 1.12.2 Port

A look into what Minecraft can become with a splash of magic.

This is an unofficial port of Mithion’s original Ars Magica 2, brought forward from Minecraft 1.7.10 to 1.12.2 by WinDanesz.
The goal of this project is to preserve the classic Ars Magica 2 experience while making it playable on newer legacy versions of Minecraft.

It also includes some reworked textures and visuals, bug fixes and I plan to add more spell shapes and content.

Ars Magica 2 on 1.12.2 comes with extensive support for Electroblob's Wizardry (including spell integrations, unified casting system and more).

These features are only enabled if you have both mods installed.

All core mechanics, progression, and gameplay concepts remain faithful to the original mod.


✨ What is Ars Magica 2?

Ars Magica 2 is a magic-focused mod centered around:

  • Creating and customizing powerful spells
  • Exploring magical structures and dimensions
  • Fighting bosses and dangerous magical creatures
  • Progressing through a deep magic system based on skill and experimentation

At the heart of the mod is a unique spell creation system, allowing you to design spells from scratch by combining spell parts, shapes, components, and modifiers.


📖 Getting Started

Getting started with Ars Magica 2 is simple:

Find a pool of Liquid Essence in the world with a Book in your inventory.

The Arcane Compendium is your main guide for the mod. It contains:

  • Tutorials and progression guides
  • Information about items, spells, and blocks
  • Details on structures, mobs, and bosses

Everything you need to learn and progress is available in-game.


Gameplay Features

  • Learn everything from the Arcane Compendium in-game.
  • Create your own spells with a flexible spellcrafting system.
  • Gain Magic XP to unlock stronger spells as you cast.
  • Manage Mana and Burnout for balanced spellcasting.
  • Explore ten magical affinities, each with unique buffs, drawbacks, and bosses.
  • Fight elemental bosses.

Please do not bother Mithion with bug reports or queries, but use this mod's own issue tracker.
This project exists to keep the mod playable on Minecraft 1.12.2 and to preserve its legacy.

All original concepts, designs, and content belong to Mithion. Original textures by D3miurge, changes were made to these with his explicit permission. See the project license in GitHub
