Description

Overview

Ever get tired of mobs sneaking up on you whilst you're minding your own buisiness? Don't want to stop mobs spawning altogether? Introducing the Automated Defence mod, a simple solution for a simple problem.

  • Consumes arrows (including spectral)
  • Uses bows and crossbows
  • Optional enchanted book slot for easy upgrades

Crafting

A crafting grid with a Dispenser on the top row, an Armor Stand in the slot below it, and a Grindstone in the slot below that. An Auto Turret is in the output slot.

The recipe uses vanilla items, making it easy to integrate into any modpack. Use a Dispenser, an Armor Stand, and a Grindstone in a crafting grid as shown above.

Usage

The Auto-Turret GUI. One slot for a bow, one slot for an Enchanted Book, and 9 slots for arrows.

Right-clicking a placed Auto-Turret opens the GUI. From here you can load the turret with a bow/crossbow and arrows, which will activate it. You can also provide an Enchanted book to apply Power, Punch, Flames, or Infinity to any bow in the turret. Enchantments stack, and will apply the highest of each from either the bow or the book.

The turret consumes the durability of the provided bow. Arrows and Tipped Arrows fired by the turret cannot be picked up outside of Creative Mode. Spectral Arrows can be picked up.

The turret picks a random mob in a 16x16 cube around it and shoots directly at that mob until it is further than 16 blocks away or is dead. Auto-Turrets fire at a rate of roughly 2 shots per second (10 ticks per shot).

Mod Support

The bow slot accepts any item that has the c:bows tag. By default this includes vanilla bows and crossbows.

The turret will target any mob that inherits the MobEntity class. In vanilla, this means it will target undead mobs, but not Slimes.

Please use this in your modpacks if you want to.
