Forge is a popular mod loader for versions 1.1+ of Minecraft.

Will greed consume you? Challenge your skills in this time-sensitive mod!
Avarice is all about reacting quickly and planning ahead. At the world spawn resides the Fountain of Greed, requesting a new item every day. The requests get progressively more uncommon and niche. Failure to pay its demands will increase the world's difficulty and roll the ever-looming Wheel of Misfortune.
Additionally, remain cautious of your health! Death is permanent, and other players can revive you using false hearts. Ghost players may possess mobs to slow them and increase their false heart drop rate. (Permanent death can be disabled if you want a more chill experience!)
If you think you've mastered the fountain, you can try your skills at the gilded dungeon, a combat-centric structure with enemies that scale their difficulty (and rewards). Here you can obtain a new set of items that turn the curse into something that benefits you, too.

Be mindful that this "mod" is a datapack in disguise!!! I can't code lol.
Known issues:
- Items don't show up in the creative mode inventory
- Modded items & blocks may not be recognized with certain utility
