Beans' Weather Whims

Minecraft’s weather just got a personality.

Weather Whims layers rare, short-lived events on top of vanilla weather. When a Whim rolls, everyone gets a toast, the sky and vignette shift to match the mood, and the world briefly plays by new rules — then it clears and you’re back to normal.

No huge tech trees. No permanent biome overhaul. Just surprise moments that feel good in singleplayer and on a small server.

What’s a Whim?

A Whim is a timed event with:

• A toast announcement (title + short tip)
• A coloured vignette and sky wash
• Light gameplay hooks tied to what you’re doing
• Advancements for witnessing and interacting with each one

Force one for testing with /weatherwhims start <id> (ops).

The Whims;

• Pollen Drift — cream/gold air. Break grass and ferns for bonus seeds.
• Aurora Night — green↔purple sky. Mining feels lighter; common ores can yield a little more. (Natural rolls prefer night.)
• Heat Haze — warm orange wash. Crops near players age faster, with particles on plants that actually grow. (Daytime rolls.)
• Mist Market — cool grey/blue fog. Wandering traders may appear nearby.
• Static Snap — dangerous storm sky and a real thunderstorm for the duration. Stand by a lightning rod for XP, Speed, Glowing, and harmless visual bolts into the rod.
• Starfall Soft — deep galaxy night, dense stars and dust bands. Kills grant a bit of bonus XP. (Night rolls.)
• Bloom Burst — rose petal wash. Break flowers and leaves for extra dyes or bone meal.
• Frost Whisper — icy cyan sky. Glide on ice/snow for a brief Speed boost; snowballs drift in.
• Ember Gale — ash and ember. Lit campfires grant brief Fire Resistance and a pop of XP; logs can drop charcoal.

Unlock a Weather Whims tab as you witness Whims and do things during them — plant in a haze, mine under an aurora, charge a rod in a Static Snap, and more. Finish Whim Wanderer by experiencing every Whim.

Notes:

Whims are server-authoritative and sync to clients for sky, vignette, particles, and toasts. Config knobs cover chances, durations, and effect strength. Natural rolls are uncommon on purpose — they should feel like a treat, not spam.
