Description

JOIN_OUR_DISCORD

Client-side mod that condenses the three tooltip lines a smithing trim adds to armor into one readable line. Works with every vanilla and datapack trim.

Client-side only (no server installation required). Fully compatible with singleplayer and works on any server.

Dependencies: Fabric & NeoForge require Architectury API. Forge requires no additional dependencies.

Free to use in any modpack — public or private, no permission needed.

What it does

  • One Line — trim pattern and material become a single line instead of three.
  • Everything Else Untouched — name, enchantments, attributes, durability, lore, and F3+H lines stay as they are.
  • Vanilla Colours — pattern and material keep their original tints.
  • Choose the Order — pattern then material, or material then pattern.

Configuration

In-game settings with a live preview of a trimmed chestplate. Turn the mod off in the screen to see the three vanilla lines again.

Open it with:

  • /bettertrimtooltips or /btt (also /btt open; /btt reload re-reads the config file)
  • Mod Menu on Fabric
  • Mod list Config on Forge and NeoForge
  • An unbound keybind under the mod's Controls category

Available settings:

  • Condense armor trim tooltips (on)
  • Line format — Pattern then material, or Material then pattern

Details

  • Client-side only.
  • Settings are stored locally in config/bettertrimtooltips.json.
  • The settings screen is translated into 10 languages: English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, and Simplified Chinese. Trim names in the tooltip come from Minecraft itself.
