Build a bridge lets you auto-generate bridges in Minecraft 1.12.2 with a single command. Choose from built-in presets (railroad, plain, stone brick, wooden) or define your own custom template — complete with automatic support beams, torch lighting on railroad pillars, and smart headroom clearing so you can walk across immediately.

Demonstration of the mod

📦 Installation

  1. Install Forge for Minecraft 1.12.2.
  2. Place the buildabridge.jar file into your .minecraft/mods folder.
  3. The mod is required on both client and server — install it on both sides for multiplayer.

No additional dependencies are needed.

✨ Features

  • /bridge <length> <preset> [x y z] — Build a bridge instantly in your viewing direction.
  • /bridge custom <length> <roadBlock> <beamBlock> [x y z] — Use any blocks you want for road and support beams.
  • Four built-in presetsrailroad (cobblestone + rails), plain (cobblestone), stone_brick, and wooden (oak planks).
  • Automatic support beams — Placed every 25–30 blocks; beams descend through air, water, lava, and glass until they hit solid ground, then dig 5 blocks deeper.
  • Torch platforms on railroad bridges — A cobblestone platform with a torch lights every support pillar.
  • Headroom clearing — At least 2 air blocks are cleared above the bridge so you can walk without hitting your head.
  • Smart starting position — Without coordinates, the bridge starts one block below your feet to avoid building inside you.
  • Direction detection — Bridge extends north, south, east, or west based on your yaw.
  • Input validation — Length limited to 1–10000; invalid presets show a helpful list of available options; block names for custom templates accept minecraft: prefix or just the block name.

❓ FAQ

Does this need to be installed on the server?
Yes. The /bridge command modifies world blocks, so both the client and the server must have the mod. In single-player it’s fine because the integrated server loads it.

Can I use blocks from other mods for custom bridges?
Yes, as long as you specify the full block name (e.g., modid:blockname). The validation will catch unknown blocks.

Is it safe to use on a survival server?
Absolutely. All block placements respect existing terrain rules, and the command can be restricted via permissions (OP-only by default).

I found a bug — where do I report it?
File an issue on the issue tracker. Include your Minecraft version, Forge version, and a log if available.
