About
Description

Momentum puts a set of critically-damped springs on the first-person camera, so the view banks, sways, dips and rolls with what you're doing instead of sitting still like a tripod. It's all angle maths - no projection change, no shaders.
Five springs
- Strafe bank - the view rolls into sideways movement.
- Turn sway - lags behind fast look turns and overshoots slightly when you stop.
- Landing dip - dips when you land, scaled by how fast you were falling.
- Sprint lurch - a small forward kick when a sprint starts.
- Elytra bank - rolls into elytra turns like a plane.
Tuning
- A master strength plus its own slider for every effect.
- Max roll caps total tilt so the view edges never clip.
- Reduce motion halves everything and turns off the impulse effects.
Compatibility
Client-side and first-person only. It works through the camera-angle event, so there are no mixins and no change to your FOV or projection - it can't corrupt render state, and it sits fine next to Sodium, Iris, shaderpacks and other camera or FOV mods.
Configuration
Sodium's video settings has a Momentum page with Master, Effects and Limits groups. Also in config/momentum.json.
Client-side, NeoForge 1.21.1, JDK 21. No server install needed. MIT licensed. Free to use in modpacks.
