Description
CBC: LAPS
Length Allows Propellant Scaling
CBC: LAPS is a configurable addon for Create Big Cannons that makes the construction of large, long and reinforced cannons mechanically useful.
Instead of relying only on CBC's original fixed propellant limits, LAPS calculates how much propellant stress an assembled cannon can safely withstand from its actual construction. Larger and better-engineered cannons can therefore use more propellant, while still retaining meaningful structural and spatial limitations.

Main features
- Calculates safe propellant stress from the cannon's material, length and structural reinforcement.
- Recognizes the different cannon section sizes used by CBC.
- Applies configurable length bonuses and structural weights.
- Preserves material resistance, breech limitations and welding penalties.
- Separates the cannon's theoretical structural strength from its physical chamber capacity.
- Counts consecutive dedicated propellant chambers immediately after the breech.
- Prevents barrels from being treated as safe propellant chambers.
- Uses the lower value between theoretical strength and available chamber capacity as the actual safe load.
- Applies the final result directly to CBC's normal firing and failure checks.
- Scales recoil from the amount and type of propellant loaded, using CBC's own recoil values.
- Provides an optional configurable maximum cannon length override, up to 512 blocks.
- Supports scalable breeches through an extensible block tag.
- Adds no new blocks or items.
Engineer's Goggles information
When looking at an assembled cannon mount while wearing Create's Engineer's Goggles, CBC: LAPS can display a complete engineering breakdown, including:
- Material resistance
- Structural reinforcement
- Cannon length bonus
- Cannon section distribution
- Unclassified sections
- Breech limitation
- Welding penalty
- Theoretical safe propellant stress
- Consecutive propellant chamber capacity
- Final safe propellant load
- Recoil scaling
The detailed panel is expanded with a configurable key, set to Left Alt by default. It can be changed from Minecraft's Controls menu.
Configuration
All gameplay calculations are configurable through the server configuration file:
config/cbclaps-server.toml
Server owners can configure structural weights, length scaling, chamber safety, welding penalties, scalable breeches, recoil scaling, maximum cannon length and diagnostic logging.
The /cbclaps status command is also available to server administrators for checking the active configuration and registered calculation modifiers.
CBC: LAPS is designed around ordered and extensible modifier registries, allowing future versions and compatible addons to introduce additional engineering calculations cleanly.
Requirements
- Minecraft 1.21.1
- NeoForge 21.1.248 or later in the 21.1 line
- Create 6.0.10
- Create Big Cannons 5.11.7
CBC: LAPS must be installed on both the client and the server. The server remains authoritative for all engineering and firing calculations.
About the logo
Graphic design is not my strong suit, so the current logo is a simple homemade placeholder. If someone with the necessary skills would like to create a better logo, feel free to contact me. If the proposed logo is used, its creator will of course be clearly credited.
