# CBC: Terminal Ballistics

CBC: Terminal Ballistics is a Create Big Cannons addon focused on more detailed armor and projectile interaction.

Instead of every projectile simply destroying or stopping at a block, armor is affected by projectile mass, velocity, caliber, impact angle, material hardness, toughness, and ductility. Armor can be penetrated without immediately disappearing, accumulate structural damage from repeated hits, produce visible impact marks, and generate dangerous spalling inside vehicles.

This project is a NeoForge 1.21.1 port of the original CBC: Terminal Ballistics by MegiTicky, with additional compatibility and gameplay features.

## Features

### Advanced penetration mechanics

Projectile penetration is calculated using projectile mass, velocity, impact angle, caliber, and the target block's armor properties.

A projectile may:

- Penetrate the armor
- Stop inside or against the armor
- Ricochet from the surface
- Shatter on hard armor
- Gradually damage the armor through repeated impacts

### Armor integrity and ductility

Armor blocks can accumulate damage without immediately being destroyed.

Ductile materials can survive multiple hits, while brittle materials may crack or fail after a powerful impact. Larger-caliber weapons cause considerably more structural damage than autocannons.

### Projectile impact marks

Projectile impacts leave visible marks on blocks, including:

- Penetration holes
- Stopped-projectile dents
- Ricochet streaks
- Different mark sizes for autocannons, small cannons, medium cannons, and big cannons
- Different visuals for metallic and non-metallic surfaces

### Spalling

Armor-piercing projectiles can generate a cone of high-speed fragments after penetrating armor.

Spall can damage players, entities, and vulnerable components located behind the armor, making internal vehicle layout and armor placement much more important.

### Adjustable copycat armor

The mod adds:

- Copycat Armor Layer
- Framed Collapsible Copycat Armor Block
- Armor Upgrader

These blocks can imitate other materials while retaining configurable armor strength.

### Sable and Create: Aeronautics compatibility

Impact marks, armor damage, particles, collision handling, and spalling are compatible with moving physical structures.

Impact marks remain attached to a structure while it moves and rotates. Stored impact marks are also separated between physical structures so that newly created structures do not inherit damage marks from destroyed ones.

The same mod file supports both Sable 1.2.2 and the tested Sable 2.0.3 release.

### CBC Modern Warfare compatibility

CBC Modern Warfare medium-cannon projectiles use the terminal-ballistics system.

When CBC Modern Warfare is installed, its APFSDS medium-cannon cartridge receives specialized behavior:

- Increased penetration
- Increased projectile velocity
- A 10-degree ricochet threshold
- APFSDS-specific spall behavior

### CBC More Shells compatibility

Additional CBC More Shells projectile families are recognized and assigned appropriate caliber, penetration, impact-mark, and spalling behavior.

- Copycats+ 3.0.4 or newer
- Ritchie's Projectile Library, as required by Create Big Cannons

- Copycats+ 3.0.4
- Sable 1.2.2 and 2.0.3
